Interesting that both Jamiet and bozo made this assumption.

You claimed Innocent Child, which is a mammal that only activates later in the game. That is not an "assumption".xorxes wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:44 pmInteresting that both Jamiet and bozo made this assumption.

I think xorxes raises good points on you + you've been among first 2 votes of a wagon for 8 of your 9 votes.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:42 pmIs what, sorry? You think I'm the powerthief? Add in the fact that he's the powerthief + he's a clear scum candidate.
Why do you think I'm the powerthief?
You asserting that you're not the powerthief does absolutely nothing to convince me of your point. Please point me in the direction of someone who looks more like the powerthief than you do rn. Looking for voting habits, interest in roles/claims, etc...

Don't just sheep Xorxes, use your own analysis. You were the one who asked for the DP smokescreen. Xorxes thinks my response to it was scummy and/or stupid. Do you also think this? If so, why did you note my response and add it to your list, without responding at the time to say that you found me stupid or scummy?EspressoPatronum wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:46 pmI think xorxes raises good points on you + you've been among first 2 votes of a wagon for 8 of your 9 votes.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:42 pmIs what, sorry? Agreeing with someone's analysis does not mean I'm sheeping. If you look at most of my xorxes interactions this game, I've done anything but sheep him.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:49 pmDon't just sheep Xorxes, use your own analysis. To me, "I think xorxes raises good points on you" means that I align with his reasoning (ie. your apparent DP use was either stupid or scummy). Didn't think I'd have to spell that one out.
I also told the forum in the morning ahead of time that I was leaving and wouldn't be able to keep up and answer questions. It's fair if you forgot, but that's why I didn't expand on anything. I just popped in for a short time to check on the DP smokescreen progress.
On another note, I'd like to address the points on the recipients of your votes. xorxes and I think you (but maybe someone else) correctly raise that powerthiefing the tree stump and/or the innocent child is wasted. To that, I counter with an observation and a multi-part question:
Observation: I have observed that you, Jamiet, have an 'excitable' personality. I've extrapolated that read to assume that if you were given the powerthief role, you would want to steal anyone's power. Perhaps it's a bit harsh of a read, but I'm willing to say that you'd let the excitement of leading a lynch get the better of your judgment in staying hidden. I could be super wrong about my extrapolation, but I feel confident in my personality read of you.
Question: Is this an accurate read of Jamiet? In other words, has he done emotional things in past games that have gone against rational judgment? If yes, do you think this makes him more or less likely to be the powerthief? Why/why not?

Post a poem by Jorge Luis Borges. You post one stanza and Hosuke another.
I already believe you're town though.

I'm going to start a tracker smokescreen once we finish the one for DP. Given how long the DP one took, we shouldn't leave it to N3 in case the tracker gets hit before they post.

Assuming I am town for a moment, why is it stupid?EspressoPatronum wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:57 pmAgreeing with someone's analysis does not mean I'm sheeping. If you look at most of my xorxes interactions this game, I've done anything but sheep him.

DP is a role which in this setup, *must* be used in N1, it cannot be held for later use.
Have you played a lot of Mafia? How often do you have confirmed scumreads by N1 that turn out to be completely accurate? How often have you turned out to be wrong about your reads?
I was genuinely concerned to limit the potential damage to town of stripping away the powers of the cop or doctor or another potentially useful role like, let's say, the Oracle.
Why is that stupid?

@Fox I know I'm not a clear, but perhaps you'll take my consideration anyway.
Please have Hosuke or you write out a longish paragraph in your QT. Have the other person take the same paragraph and change its appearance (but not substance!!) in a way that would take too long to replicate in a minute or two.
Then both of you post those paragraphs (one original, one doctored) at the same time.

Agreeing with Xorxes, following his read onto me, now calling out to him for support / advice / endorsement?EspressoPatronum wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 11:03 pm@xorxes voice your reservations now or forever hold your peace.
I'm not sure whether this is signalling or buddying but your recent obsession with being on the same page as Xorxes is certainly a point of note.

Re: Mafia 47 - The Sixth Mass Extinction - GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Here's the catch: I *never* make it to Day 7. I was a likely N1 kill candidate based on previous games, and I didn't want my role to be janitored. I decided to claim it EON1 the minute I read what it was.foodcoats wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:17 pm
xorxes' claim really bothers me. I was trying not to tunnel xor but I kept thinking about it and here's the thing: I think the real value of the IC, the purpose it exists in this format, is as a "finisher move." If we get to Day 7, it's effectively a scumtrap. town!xor can sit on it and then pop it to create a really radical POE effect and catch scum. It's a !Super Ultra Combo Claim! because it is provable and most importantly, INSTANT.
I understand your concern, and it's a valid one. I think you're town. I'm not sure if we have played together before (maybe one other game?) but me surviving to D7 would be a miracle, so I never even considered I would ever be able to use my power. But instead xor claimed it. When they were not a wagon. I honestly don't know why. If they are town, not only does it eliminate the real value of the PR (helping town close the game), the claim helps scum's NK POE. And I just don't think xorxes would not realize that.

Re: Mafia 47 - The Sixth Mass Extinction - GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
I will also say that I regretted having claimed it when I realized Jamiet thought damo had claimed it. I gave scum way too much info, I admit I didn't think that through properly, but I was overly concerned with the Janitor.

The DP RoleJamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 11:07 pmAssuming I am town for a moment, why is it stupid?EspressoPatronum wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:57 pmAgreeing with someone's analysis does not mean I'm sheeping. Why is that stupid?
The strength of DP is twofold.
First, as you said, it strips power from someone. This is bad if it hits one of our better PRs, but isn't game-losing. It's null if it hits a VT or goon. It's game-winning if it hits the ant, and very helpful if it hits a mafia PR.
Second, as I don't think you've considered, is it's another piece of information for the town. We're starved for information this game, as all our investigatives activate late(ish) and/or are limited in their capacity. Hitting literally anyone other than yourself gives the town more information to work off of. As you can see from the DP smokescreens, your reveal gives the town the least information when DP!jamiet dies.
DP!Jamie's self-target
DP!Jamie self-targeting overlooks the game-winning potential of the role in favour of saving a few fairly low-value PR roles. I think you've completely ignored the information-gathering aspect of the role.
To add to all of that, I don't see many reasons for the janitor not being used. I'm mostly dismissing the forgetful reason (looking at you, damo), which leaves me with either (a) DP hit the janitor, or (b) the janitor held their action to simulate the first option. Hats off to the scum team if they intentionally did (b), but I think (a) is more likely.
The Bottom Line
You either didn't put enough thought into the DP role or you aren't DP.
