Re: Mafia 47 - The Sixth Mass Extinction - GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Been looking at various people and I'm amazed how strong of a team we're dealing with
I've been harping about mafia's greatness this game because most people who aren't claimants look acceptable
darg/bo and flash look scummy because they keep their content small and activity sporadic however I wouldn't be surprised if there's actually town even in this pool
I trust Percy so much, I've come around on Jamie being town, xorxes is townie and I can nod on all his reasons for choosing a Hosuke route D2
who else? Is it you, dear foodcoats?
worcej? I guess it's worcej who seemed dramatic in many votes and reactions to people

Re: Mafia 47 - The Sixth Mass Extinction - GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Lynch or NK?
I don't really want to tell scum what I think their best strategy is though, what's the point of this speculation?
Re: Mafia 47 - The Sixth Mass Extinction - GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Fox and Hosuke are town and will offer proof next day
Chaqa will also be proven but Chaqa revealing when he there was no need to, feels genuine
xorxes
Espresso is someone that I can mention as trustworthy, this time is half-pocket/ half-his content because he delivers on many aspects
wild card could be bozo, I've seen bozo act this way as scum and his massclaim and calculations tactics are still bothersome, to me it looks like a fun way for scum to look busy and invested
flash/bo_sox, I think bo_sox showed a few townie moments

Well, well, unfortunately, you’re right. The mafia team this time is plain great. As someone who regularly draws mafia in IRL mafia games, they’re doing a terribly great job. I guess my day 1 screw up and other factors played a part too, but man...Vaporwave wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:55 amBeen looking at various people and I'm amazed how strong of a team we're dealing with

2 pools for scum
a) could be someone from
dargo/flash/bo_sox (less certainty on bo_sox)
b) stronger feels for scum in this 2nd pool:
bozo/worcej (as mains) foodcoats also as a possibility

There might not be a janitor, or if there is a janitor, the mafia might have decided they wanted to know what Vecna's role was. However, if I was DP, I would have targeted one of my top scum reads N1 and targeted Chaqa.EspressoPatronum wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 3:13 amI'll start the smokescreen reveal.
If I'm Divine Presence, I targeted damo.
Re: Mafia 47 - The Sixth Mass Extinction - GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Would that keep Chaqa alive (if you are DP and he is the Lover and his Lover dies)?bozotheclown wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 11:09 amThere might not be a janitor, or if there is a janitor, the mafia might have decided they wanted to know what Vecna's role was. Brain, how about you come back to ItsHosuke and me only if we are unable to prove ourselves Day 3.

Re: Mafia 47 - The Sixth Mass Extinction - GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Outing a potential town clear is not the same as a mass claim on a smaller scale. Here is why I find it hard to believe you think your idea was "low price/huge reward". First, I am sure you know the value in waiting to reveal a town clear until after the mafia have NKed the other town clears. Second and more important, if Hosuke was scum, he was already caught, there was no benefit of pushing it D2.xorxes wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:29 amI hope you're still alive tomorrow Chaqa.
I have been townreading bozo all game in great part *because* of the massclaim idea. While it is a bad idea once you factor in all the things we lose, it is the type of thing that bozo does, and there are also some potential benefits. If the masons, the votestealer, the vig, the bulletproof or the inno child were part of the fakelist, they would have been in trouble, because they would not have been able to prove their provable role. As it turns out at least 5 of these 6 were town, so it would not have worked out so great. The bad part would be the sacrifice of the cop, the watcher, the tracker, the doc, the jailer, the commuter, (also maybe the absorber, the lover and the oracle can be added here). I think in the balance we lose more than we gain, but I did consider the idea myself and so I could understand where bozo was coming from and it didn't really surprise me that he kept pushing it in spite of everyone else but me being completely against it.
What bothers me most about bozo's current fixation on me though is that it is based on me outing the second mason as an "obviously" anti-town move. I was doing in a smaller scale what he had proposed doing in a much larger scale. If Hosuke was town, we pay the price of exposing the second mason earlier than we needed to. If Hosuke was scum, we caught him (and potentially two others directly connected with him). Unlike his full massclaim idea, this was low price/huge reward.
The only way my strategy was obviously bad is if you knew for sure that Hosuke was town. Fox knew that for sure, and so it's understandable that he would be annoyed with me. But why was bozo so sure that Hosuke was town that he was not interested in risking it? This is really bothering me because it depends on him having a very certain read of Hosuke that I don't know how anyone other than Fox could have had.
Here is why a mass claim would have been useful. You don't want to lynch Percy, damo, or Chaqa because they have claimed various town roles. What if all three are scum? You claim inno child, what if you are scum? I am not supposed to consider lynching any of you because of your claims? The best way to play this would have been to claim roles so we could collect as many clears as possible, hope some scum are forced to claim roles that can eventually be disproven, and ignore all other roles.

Re: Mafia 47 - The Sixth Mass Extinction - GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Yeah just to be clear on this, it's not a Mafia rule issue specifically, but the site Mods / Admins have made very clear statements in the past that gambling, making wagers, etc., is very strictly not allowed on the site at all. I believe Kestas / Zultar were concerned that gambling is illegal / age-restricted in some jurisdictions, and they didn't want any legal issues to affect the site.Percy Williams wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 11:32 pmNo, they talked about this, apparently gambling/betting is in some rule disallowed on Webdip, but there was no prosecution for betting Webdip points because there was no way to actually transfer them, so the interaction was judged to be spam/a joke.Foxcastle wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 9:42 pmTechnically not disallowed by any written rule on WebDiplomacy, the WebDiplomacy forum, or the standard WebDiplomacy mafia rules. However, per rule 0 in general and rule 6 in specific, "If you are considering saying or doing something that may be against the spirit of the game, message the GM about it before saying/doing it and the GM will let you know whether it is allowed or not."Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 9:31 pmHi Xorxes,
I'm town. Your read on me is sadly very wrong.
I'd offer to bet, but that's not really allowed now, is it?
Yours sincerely,
Jamie T
Hope that's helpful.
So much as I would be happy to bet Xorxes $1,000 that I'm town, this would not be appropriate.

Hey bozo, if you're online/free over the next few hours, can you follow up with people to get more smokescreen reveals? You're the only one who's done it so far, so I imagine you can also point ppl toward the relevant posts explaining the purpose of the smokescreen.
Things get drowned out in the chat pretty quickly, so a couple reminders might be necessary.

@Jamiet. Answering your question.EspressoPatronum wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 3:12 amWe should do a Divine Presence smokescreen reveal before EON. If scum hits DP, we lose the janitor lead we discussed earlier.
Everyone who hasn't claimed a role should post something to the effect of:
"If I'm DP, I targeted ___"
Our DP either doesn't exist or didn't want to reveal to help with our janitor lead. In the event of the latter, we need to help them. In the event of the former, doing this gives no additional information to the scum team
