Re: Diplomacy in an "Altered State of Mind"
Maybe not what you're asking, but I got pretty tipsy in one of the games at WDC 2017.
The pro was that I was probably way more socialable and risky so I ended up topping the board.
The con was that I misordered like a solid 5 times

I've played live Gunboats here with various levels of alcohol consumption. Hasn't been a problem so far.
Recently I also topped a board at the Dutch Championships while feeling very dizzy. Most of that was due to an illness rather than the hangover. My moves were consistently horrible, with many misorders, but apparently my press was (still) good. I've almost finished the EOG on that one, but I've been saying that for months now..
We might be onto something here.

2 of my three solos have come while drinking, as have most of the ones where if I had guessed correctly I would have soloed. Clearly I need to buy more whiskey...
Re: Diplomacy in an "Altered State of Mind"
I never played this game sober even once in over 500 tries

My friend is super "baked" right now. He doesn't want to laugh anymore. He's wayyyy to full of Fruit Roll-Ups and fried pickles... God, the pain.Durga wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 12:27 amI plan on being 100% drunk for all the games at WDC2019 :) I heard rumors of endless free wine

Why on earth would you let your friend climb into a warm oven?

Have you ever lived in Kansas? It was 85° F yesterday; today it was 45° with wind gusts of 50+. Why wouldn't he want to climb in an oven?

I've been in an "altered state" for about 24 hours and suspect that I have been poisoned. Fiendish stomach cramps & hot and cold flushes. The Most Beautiful Fire Breathing MemSahib Her Lovely Imperiousness Indoors lying on a sofa eating cakes has been looking disconcertingly pleased with herself when she has reassured me that I "will probably pull through". I won't describe the other symptoms except to.suggest that delirium is definitely.happemimg.

I'm hoping to survive & think it probable. I've been smashed physically, humbled and reduced to impotence so if it was Her Serene Imperiousness Indoors lying on a sofa the dosage was sufficient to achieve it's goals.

Re: Diplomacy in an "Altered State of Mind"
Fortunately I'm worth more alive than dead to Her Imperiousness Indoors & my Lovely Fire Breathing MemSahib does not inherit. I'm an old fashioned Blighter in that regard, there's ample for her & Princess Estelle, but it's our offspring who will get control. My dear old Dad taught me well. Twenty years before he died his wine cellar had over a hundred dozen bottles, he consumed 90% plus and left me barely three or four dozen. They were so fragile that they had to be consumed "on the spot" and at least a third went down the sink. Gosh there were a few exceptional bottles of red to toast the old Blighter with and a cousin who shared them with me had a delayed hangover, following day he was still exuberant, but the hangover that hit him on the next day flattened him.
I'm recovering, and managed a solo win with England, my favourite country to play. Haven't had a solo win for a few years here, so every cloud has it's proverbial silver lining.
