If only scum made things easy for us by doing stuff like that...e.m.c^42 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2019 7:40 pm
But changing small things like that 1) Makes it easy to set up for changing more later on, since if people get used to small edits, it becomes normalized and allows someone to manipulate a lot easier--which really seems on the suspicious side, and 2) Changes the "feeling" of the quote, since small details make the person and context.
Hopefully there are no rules about tampering with quotes, that would be silly.mainly the 1st point tho xD (and it's like a local ethics thing, as well as in the rules iirc: Jamie seems hardass enough to adhere for this type of thing)

thats why I did itxorxes wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2019 12:23 pmI found a minor flaw in my plan: If every town (except for the Party Cop) is required to tell the truth, then at the end of the day scum will know if the PC has lied or not, and so they will know in which side of the house they have to look for them.
Fortunately there's an easy fix: Only conservative townies (other than the PC) are required to be truthful. Most non-conservatives should also be truthful (so as not to add noise into the scumpool) but one or two should probably lie and say they're conservatives, as that helps protect the valuable PC. This way scum don't know where to look for the PC, because they don't know if they lied or not.
Non-conservatives claiming conservative doesn't affect the reliability of the PC's scans. They scan in the non-conservative pool and if they get conservative (or DUP) it's a guilty and if they get anything else it's a clear.

Re: MAFIA 43 - GAME THREAD
Neph's "Hadrian" Wall
So there are two striking things to me that have happened so far in this game. Xorx going ham with ideas and the Attorney/Vapor thing.
1. Xorx goes ham
Pretty quickly comes up with two strats. ONe of which was thrown out just as quickly and one that we have actioned. As I stated in my previous post I think the plan is net beneficial although could do with a more concrete guidelines to ensure we get the desired outcomes.
Pretty simple but I like xorx for this.
2. Attorney and Vapor have a cute thing
So there's four possible explanation for this spat
- Both town
Honestly I think this is the least likely scenario, they're both deep into tunnels and don't really seem interested to re-think or discuss other options.
- Both scum
It would be some pretty intense bussing and the only thing that points to this is the time it took between when the spat started and when they actually voted (and both reasonably soon after each other). Unlikely
- Attorney scum
I think this is currently most likely. He's done a lot of asking people for opinions and less hunting. The one post that does give me pause is when he mentioned the conservative claim number from a town perceptive (could be fake though, and he seems experienced enough to do it)
- Vapor scum
Right at the start of my read I posted that vapor felt different to his scum game last time. That was a little premature though as I still had many a page to read. I think he definitely could be scum although I like his arguments against Attorney significantly more.
Misc topics
Percy - scum, wont post all the reasons for voting for a person. Reeks to me like he's a new scum that doesn't really know whats happening and just waiting to get to EOD and chat to his team.
Brain - null, not quite as awkward as last game but not inspiring much confidence either, I suppose he made some sense in looking at the historically good scum considering the previous success.
Durga - null, not wanting play with mechanics gave me bad vibes, not enough to scum read though
Emc - hmmm, notably not a active as the last game which is a little odd as he got super into it, less SoC which I'm loving (soz it just got to me xx) weak scum I guess
Squigs - weak town, more active and doesn't scream scum like last time. While notably mechanics focused he's stilling contributing.
-----Neph's Spicy Take-----
So this is based on my last two games in which I nailed a scum that pretty much only I was scumreading. May as well keep up the tradition here
Ezio - Purely mechanics based, anti the strat that most people agreed on and just not really contributing, more cutting down the actioned plan and then comes around when he realises he's gonna stick out too much if he keeps denying it.
Town - Fox, Xorx
Weak town - Squigs
Null - Brain - Durga
Weak Scum - EMC
Scum - V/A, Percy, Ezio

Re: MAFIA 43 - GAME THREAD
GM NOTE
Since I have been asked to clarify: No, it is not against the rules to mis-quote somebody, or to be selective when quoting them.
The only halfway relevant rule in this context, is that it most definitely is against the rules to post screen-shots of PMs from the GM, or screen-shots of chats from QTs such as the Mafia QT or the EU Negotiator QT.

I think weve been in maybe 3 games? he was town poisoner in one game and played great
Re: MAFIA 43 - GAME THREAD
xorxes is the new Verna
I had no clue he behaves like this as town
taking charge of the situation
for those disagreeing that xorxes currently holds the townie torch in his hand, name another

Both Vapor and xorxes are rather different so far; Vapor has been actually trying, vs last time with the "innocent-passive lurkiness" haha
[ I'm tempted to like it, but it's possible he's experienced enough to do this as a tactic/to throw off building meta assumptions. ]
Xorxes actually posted stuff that wasn't one sentence--and a lot of it :D
still rather mechanics based, which I don't really know how to distinguish between good and bad plans lol--but he has succeeded in convincing (I'll assume what will become everyone) in the con-noncon claiming.
Percy feels a bit ehh...giving me the same feeling as Vapor from last game: @Percy, what experience do you have with mafia in general? Just reading games (like me!) or have you played IRL or elsewhere?
Brain, like other people have noted, has been quiet: this coupled with the thing he had about signing up makes it not too unexpected; but again, same as the above []'d sentence.
been quiet
