Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Ok real quick =P
So Killmonger could have been a really neat, multi-dimensional character, and then they fucked it all up by dumbing it down. It started so well where the audience could sympathize with his motives and how his mistreatment led to his worldview. And then, instead of exploring that, they make him a straight villian character by having him basically say, lets all unite and get guns and kill everyone because they are bad..

Because there's no night phase? I guess there are other ways to do it, but Occam's Razor maybe suggests that no night == no night kill == a game of pure deduction.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 2:13 amEh...why do you assume scum have no kill?
I find it interesting that you are talking about game balance. Many of us don't know the roles or the mechanics on either side of the teeter-totter, so it is hard to add much to your discussion.
Having just come off running my own game, I've been thinking about balance a lot lately. But also, I doubt Durga is going to run an unbalanced game, so I think that's a valid factor in how to think about the game.
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
What is this supposed to mean? What am I supposed to learn from this?
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Yes, I'm sure Durga made the game balanced, so why are you talking about balance? Do you think that our methods of finding scum change if they don't have a traditional NK? How does this change how town should view the game?Foxcastle wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 2:25 amBecause there's no night phase? So you are voting someone for vague reasons and spend the rest of the time commentating on flavor. Solid start Tom.Tom Bombadil wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 2:11 amThere is alot I didn't care for about Black Panther. The action sequences are poor. The acting was fine, but nothing spectacular. And the film doesn't have anything interesting to say - even though it thinks its making a big statement about something. Alas, we can discuss this outside of game thread.Foxcastle wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 2:04 amSo, do scum simply have to grind out the win without any NK? I was thinking that the closed set up was scum-sided by nature, but if there's no NK, that possibly balances it out for town. But I've also never played a closed set up before.
Not that it matters on Day 1, where we know as much now as we ever know.
Rdrivera and Bozo have been scum recently and proven themselves very capable threats, but they are definitely not alone on this list. Ezio looks like the only likely lurker.
What was wrong with Black Panther, Tom?
And what's wrong with Xorxes, for that matter?
As far as why I'm voting xorx, I dunno. Seems like a good vote right now.

Can you expand on this Balki? What is interesting about it? I interpret it as you finding Foxy fishy, but if thats the case, this seems much less direct than you usually are. What gives?Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 2:13 am

Thanks. You know, because normally people have high conviction reads less than 4 hours into a game. I'm sorry to disappoint you.Squigs44 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 2:45 amSo you are voting someone for vague reasons and spend the rest of the time commentating on flavor. Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
No reveal means we need to scumhunt. They probably do get to kill at night That's how these usually are.
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
I know you don't read mechanics, so I'll spell it out for you here:
There is no night phase
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
I'm aware. I've played one or two of these with our GM involved. Mafia kills EOD. Ask Ezio I feel him hard.
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Wait, so there is a kill mechanic built in @ghug? How are you sure that there is? I've never been in a closed game like this and there is no information provided on it.

##vote ND
Those questions serve no purpose other than filler. He literally answered all of those.

Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
So you were aware there was no night, but said they probably kill at night... Okay.
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Yeah, this looks like ND trying hard to be ignorant. He usually has a more sage intellect.

Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Hi fine Wakanda folks. I don't think I played a setup like this before, but I played a no-reveal and I think it isn't so different. We need to focus on finding scum and not on mechanics.
I found Ghug starting post even worst then usual, with that "I don't care for setup" feeling.
And Squigs is a lot more agressive on this game.

Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
You referring to the discord game? That was an odd one. This game is entirely unlike that one, and I'm sure you know why.
##Vote Tom. You've played enough with Xorxes to know that's a dumb first vote.
