Normal GM practice is that a substitute IS told what their predecessor did in terms of Night Actions, action results, etc. So I assume the answer is a clear 'yes'. Otherwise, as you say, the sub would be at an information disadvantage.

Potato, potato; potato.
Re: Mafia round 93: hot potato! (game thread)
foodcoats didn't have any potato since the beginning of the game. I also didn't receive any potatos.
Yeah if foodcoats had a potato I would probably be informed. My role PM didn't include any details about D1. It only said: You currently have no potatoes. Later I asked Sparta and confirmed not having any. Feel free to ask GM for confirmation.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 1:09 pmNormal GM practice is that a substitute IS told what their predecessor did in terms of Night Actions, action results, etc. So I assume the answer is a clear 'yes'. Re: Mafia round 93: hot potato! (game thread)
GM NOTE
I gave yavuzovic foodcoats's role PM and current potato status (as of N1) right when he subbed in.
I forgot to give him foodcoat's D1 potato status at the time. This is totally my fault - I was focused too much on getting the switch to happen before EoN.
Anyways, I woke up this morning to a PM from yavuzovic asking for D1 potato status, which I answered in the last half-hour or so.
Management regrets the omission.

Congratulations on baby chaqa or, if I already knew that, I apologize for having the memory of a goldfish
Re: Mafia round 93: hot potato! (game thread)
I fully agree with this, and since I’m starting to feel like the game is stagnating a little bit, I think this is a good way to get people a little more riled up again.bozotheclown wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 6:03 amIf we do what I have suggested and have everyone announce who they passed potatoes to one phase delayed, we will have a good chance of finding out about any fake claims.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 4:42 pmYou would know if there were too many claims.bozotheclown wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 2:56 pm
If everyone provides the information on whether they were holding a HP D1, we have a good chance of knowing if anyone was fake claiming, with only a lack of information from ND making it not certain. I think a mafia member would be taking an unnecessary chance fake claiming it, so even if Chaqa was fake claiming, it still seems more likely to come from town than mafia. I am not saying it is conclusive, though, I was just answering BunnyGo's question about why I had Chaqa on my town reads list at the time.
You would have no means of finding out who was lying. When you receive a hot potato, you are not told who passed it to you.
Therefore the risk is quite small unless precisely this were to happen:
- Everyone starting the game with a hot potato honestly claimed it D1, and no-one stayed silent, AND:
- Exactly one Mafia fake claimed a hot potato they didn't actually have.
...which is quite an edge case.
Re: Mafia round 93: hot potato! (game thread)
On the whole I’ve gotten a pretty fair town vibe from bozo and mimi alike, but this got me thinking about how the mafia team could intelligently, with full knowledge of the potato mechanics, could believe they can afford to fearkill ghug. I came up with four options:Kakarroto wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 9:10 amhmm, usually I'm not a nk target, mafia often thinks I can be misvoted. I guess they thought that mimi is new enough to fall in the same category?DreamTrawler wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 12:15 amMimi or Kaka to disrupt the information flow about the whereabouts of potatoes, or Bozo who was compiling the whereabouts of potatoes.
Thinking about it, I was only nk'ed N1 (or rather doused and later set aflame) by brain because of Chaqa, in the game with many cops, because Chaqa thought I would notice that he was mafia that game. Guess it's a slight town point for him that it didn't happen this game? But he could've been overruled.
Anyway, bozo was probably a good target too. Maybe mafia guessed correctly that he would get the safe potato? (ugh, why did my brain automatically imagine a safe made out of potato when I wrote this? That's not a very good safe) Bozo was kinda high on the town list, I think, so maybe mafia didn't want to risk hitting the potato?
I mean, another option would be that bozo is mafia, but I kinda doubt that. I mean, he would probably get much towncred for a phase or two if they hit a teammate that has that potato, but if bozo keeps surviving afterwards, we would notice that pretty fast and just vote him out.
Hmm. Yeah, it is a bit strange, thinking about it, mafia would love to get that potato out of the game as early as possible, no? Like a townclear now is much less valuable than a townclear in the later stages. So avoiding bozo for fear of hitting the potato is kinda a wrong line of thought.
Maybe it was a read of someone that lead to ghug's demise? Or they just thought that ghug was scarier than others? Hmm
a) the scumteam is comprised of some combination of people who aren’t thinking hard enough to realize that the only person that wasn’t potentially being saved was mimi, because mimi had the sweet potato and passed it to bozo.
b) the scumteam is made up of a group of people that decided they don’t care about the sweet potato.
c) mimi is scum, so the mafia team knew where the sweet potato was going and knew how to avoid it.
d) bozo is scum, so the mafia team knew where the sweet potato was and knew it was out of commission.
I could easily believe option a), especially in a game where more experienced folks like worcej or Chaqa just as two off the cuff examples haven’t really put in any effort but have the background here to fearkill and the experience to take the lead in those conversations. I don’t buy b) at all because it’s just stupid. The last two options also make some sense in a vacuum and, in either case, would explain why the scumteam felt comfortable fearkilling one of the more obvious targets in a game without PRs. Knowing where the sweet potato landed is a wealth of knowledge for one night.
Re: Mafia round 93: hot potato! (game thread)
##CALL GM can the sweet potato be passed between mafia members? Maybe that is a dumb question idk

Okay. I started the game with a Hot Potato and on D1 I passed it to Chaqa.bozotheclown wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 6:03 amIf we do what I have suggested and have everyone announce who they passed potatoes to one phase delayed, we will have a good chance of finding out about any fake claims.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 4:42 pmYou would know if there were too many claims.

At EoD1 I obtained two hot potatoes and if I survive D2, I will say where they went.
Potato, potato; potato.

It cannot, that’s why Bozo wants to use it for townclears. Therefore Bozo and Mimi cannot both be Mafia, but one of them could be.

Also @Bozo I passed my D1 hot potato to Control V. I did not have any during N1.

I assumed that happened before I passed them off? Did I kill ghug on accident ?
or
b) scum tried to kill Bozo and failed and ghug was killed by potato explosion (10%).

Yes, the SP is still in the game. Also, DreamTrawler said he passed his D1 HP to Control V, so it seems like all HPs are still in the game as well.rdrivera2005 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 10:11 amI think Bozo would have disclosed the b) so it's a) or b)Ghug was double killed by scum and HP.
