Why

Kak has a tendency to lurk hard as scum and I think it's a good look to try to pull him into the game.

you do know though that I'm not using the bot. The last time I opened that site was when I was co-gm of worcej (the accident-flavour game), for vote documentation purposes. Hm maybe I've looked at it afterwards for a check on how my wordcount to post ratio was, and some stuff where we talked in the discord at the time, but when I play, I just don't use it anymore since I noticed it just makes me worse in my game

It was based on I think only 2 posts, but immediately declaring to have a HP seemed like a town thing to do.

What exactly does claiming a hot potato do for town in the middle of D1? Until he reveals who he gave it to we don’t get any information from that. Is that a valid substitution for actually attempting to scumhunt?

It may not do anything for town immediately, but it is my opinion that keeping track of the HPs will benefit town in the long run, by preventing the mafia from secretly passing HPs to players they want to get rid of. For example, if we are able to clear any players with the SP, the mafia can't try to take them out with HPs without us knowing about it.

As for your second question, it seemed to me the a mafia holding a HP on D1 would want to keep it hidden until some consensus was reached on how to reveal the information.

I was not.

Mafia holding a hot potato might reasonably see revealing it as an opportunity to appear not to be mafia, especially if they see others ruminating over whether or not revealing potatoes to be a good idea or not. Why hold on to it? It's essentially zero risk to reveal it on day 1 when nobody can possibly have been towncleared yet. To that point, and to your point that there isn't much immediate benefit, I do not see how revealing a hot potato in the middle of day 1 in lieu of scumhunting is justifiable.

I think it is worth tracking the HPs the same as the SP, since otherwise the mafia would have more information about them, although it probably doesn't matter much. I did not have an HP D1.

and finally, other than being pushed by red, damo did more or less nothing d1 other than antipairing with red and shitposting

so, similarly to damo, there's not a lot to point out about bozo, but that's exactly the reason for my scumread here. Compared to jamie, bunny, or me, bozo posts a lot but has managed to avoid any arguments by not making any scumreads. This reads as scum coasting on filler posts.
