This should be fine
Hominidae, is it fine for us to cancel our current match and have Awhailnah take their spot back?

Re: webDiplomacy Chess Tournament!
Since it's a round robin we can arrange for 9 players instead of 8
Re: webDiplomacy Chess Tournament!
i mean i'm playing with the intent of filling in; if it's not too inconvenient for hominidae i think it would be best to just change the player in the bracket since i don't really care if i play or not and awhailnah specifically signed up to play

If it's not too late, I'd also be willing to jump in and give the extra player an opponent.

Re: webDiplomacy Chess Tournament!
Can someone explain me what happened to one of my games vs DougJoe?
I was exploring the Lichess site and found the "Analysis Board" feature. I copied the moves of one game and started experimenting with the feature, and suddenly that game ended because of "Cheat Detected". What???

I don't know if this happened, but you can turn on computer evaluation in the analysis board with a toggle on the top right. It's to the left of a line that says: "SF 16 . 7 MB NNUE in local browser" Mousing over the switch says "Toggle local evaluation".
I would guess they might count that as cheating, although I think they could make the mouseover clearer, maybe call it 'local computer evaluation' or something.

Re: webDiplomacy Chess Tournament!
Yes, I believe that's what happened, although I'm not sure whether the position under analysis was the current one in the actual game (I would say I hadn't inserted all the moves, just a few).
I understand it can be considered a cheating attempt, and I'm feeling a bit stupid about that. But then it would be so easy to disable the feature or just issue a warning instead of allowing a stupid user to use the function and then say "you cheated".
It's a pity because we were in an interesting position, but ok.

Re: webDiplomacy Chess Tournament!
Yeah, if you copied the game over then turned the evaluation engine on the site would consider that a cheat attempt. Chess.com has similar rules, although I don't remember if they actively try to prevent it or not (by warning you or preventing the engine from being enabled in the same use case.)Ernst_Brenner wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 9:38 amI don't know if this happened, but you can turn on computer evaluation in the analysis board with a toggle on the top right. I'm cool with starting over. The only question is: do we want to "replay" back to the same position or not?
