bots responding to you
I understand the bot is supposed to play intelligently, but how exactly do you ally with it? Do they respond to your message if you send one to their press? If so, how long do they take? Or do I have the completely wrong idea, and it's just gunship with them, and they react accordingly to your moves?

Re: bots responding to you
There are a few press bots, but those are almost always taken, and you have to select the option to play against them specifically.
In the vast majority of bot games, they are simply gunboat. If you didn't specify that you wanted full-press bots, they won't respond to you.

There is now a queue function for the full press bots, info here: https://webdiplomacy.net/contrib/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6072
But it's different to a gunboat game which is much quicker and you can start and stop very quickly. I've also done some optimization which should make the gunboat games more responsive
