Could you elaborate a little on the order of operations of the EOPhase, Potato ACTION and Potato passing?

So if I start the Night with a hot potato that explodes that night, do I pass it before it explodes or after?

Similar request for clarification on other potatoes.

SIX is obviously meant to be S(IX), where IX represents 9 and S(n) represents the successor function

therefore foodcoats claimed there were ten slots, when there were only five. this is a direct contradiction, so he is obviously mafia

miminena is attempting to miskill foodcoats. In reality IX is a reference to the planet Ix from the Dune series, and 5IX means the function the Ixians have in Heretics of Dune, the fifth Dune book, which is that they are a group with power resulting primarily from their technology. Therefore foodcoats is softing being the Potatosmith, and Miminena is the witch and must be executed

If a hot potato explodes at the end of a given phase, it explodes before it is tossed and kills whoever was holding it during that phase (unless, of course, that player was also holding the sweet potato).

Sweet potato: The sweet potato provides one-time protection against any form of death (hot potato, rotten potato, daykill, mafia factional nightkill). It is immediately consumed, and cannot simultaneously protect against another cause of death. (Examples: Two exploding hot potatoes results in the player dying. One exploding hot potato and being chosen as the daykill also results in the player dying.) If a sweet potato is consumed, the player eating the sweet potato is notified.

Let's see if I can write out what happens at the end of each phase...

End of Day:
0. Everyone holding a hot potato or sweet potato needs to message the GM with the name of the player they want to toss their potato to.

1. The GM determines which hot potatoes explode (if any). The player(s) holding those potatoes will die at EoD (unless saved by a sweet potato).

2. Unexploded hot potatoes are tossed to their new targets (they can be considered to be in flight for the remainder of EoD).

3. The daykill is determined using the usual voting methods. Players who died from exploding potatoes still have their vote count; the player with the couch potato does not have their vote count. If the top vote-getter dies by hot potato, that player still counts as the daykill. (If there is a two-way tie for top vote-getter and one of those players dies by hot potato, the surviving player does not become the daykill.)

4. If the daykill held the rotten potato, then the daykill's target also dies as well here.

5. Once all deaths have been resolved, the sweet potato is tossed to its new recipient.

6. The GM notifies the recipients of the tossed potatoes that they are receiving them by direct message (and also notifies newly-deceased players).

7. All of the newly-deceased players are announced by the GM in the thread. Cause of death is not indicated by the GM (either directly or in flavor).

End of Night:
0. Everyone holding a hot potato, sweet potato, or couch potato needs to message the GM with the name of the player they want to toss their potato to. Also, the mafia have selected their factional kill.

I hadn't thought about this too deeply - thanks for bringing it up. Thematically, I think the potato probably just bounces off of their corpse onto the ground (and is no longer part of the game). If people wanted the potato to bounce back to the original tosser, I wouldn't mind making that call.

A common JEOPARDY category used to be "Potent Potables," referring to alcoholic beverages. Regardless of what you THINK the etymology is... it clearly refers to POTatoes, which in terms of alcohol can only mean vodka. Ergo, JEOPARDY is Russian... or Polish... or Belarusian, or Latvian.
