Re: 20 Questions: Game 506
I don't think this is likely. For one thing, why would there have been an initial pass on this question:
"Has this person ever held office as a US Senator, US Governor, or been Speaker of the House of Representatives?"
My guess is we're looking at someone who served as a state senator, or mayor, or possibly (but not likely) someone who was appointed to the House of Representatives but never elected. Unless they weren't in politics at all and were some other form of nonfiction writer than those that have already been excluded.

I guess another possibility is someone who was elected to the Senate or as a governor, but died before taking office.

We don’t know a ton (I lost track of questions even with the summary, for some reason I thought it was 11 and not 13 so partially my fault). I agree the pass-to-no is going to be the key.Ernst_Brenner wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 1:39 pmI don't think this is likely. For one thing, why would there have been an initial pass on this question:

I thought about a vice president (who serves as president of the Senate), but unless I made a mistake, every vice president with a valid birthdate failed some other criterion.Aristocrat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 3:28 pmWe don’t know a ton (I lost track of questions even with the summary, for some reason I thought it was 11 and not 13 so partially my fault). I doubt this is right, but I'll guess George W. Randolph, who was one of the Confederate Secretaries of War.

Question 20:
Was this person, at one time, a newspaper editor?

And since Q20 has not been answered, I can have my free guess:

Now it's time for the five guesses. Hint:
If this question hadn't contained "US" before "Governor", it would have received an unqualified "yes".Aristocrat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 10:05 pmHas this person ever held office as a US Senator, US Governor, or been Speaker of the House of Representatives?
