No (assuming this means Southeast Asia)

Re: Twenty Questions, Round 503
Someone should check this, but I think the list of possible birthplaces is:
Georgia / Azerbaijan / Armenia (the Asian parts of those)
Uzbekistan / Turkmenistan
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Taiwan
Jordan / Kuwait / Palestine / Bahrain (depending on some definitions)

Wow, a fast round indeed! I've had Timur on my list of possible subjects for a while, along with two other figures that I didn't know were born in what is now Uzbekistan. I guess a lot of the big Silk Road cities were there.

Re: Twenty Questions, Round 503
Anyway, my goal here was mainly to help color in the map and go beyond my usual US/Western Europe picks. No connection to 503.
Some of the currently unused countries (Portugal and Netherlands in particular come to mind) have a good number of 20Q-worthy picks. Probably some good candidates in the Caucasus /Jordan / Saudi Arabia / Southeast Asia, too.
Central Asia is a little tougher in that regard.
(edit: though maybe from the above there are more famous people born in what is now Uzbekistan than I realize)

Fun fact: Uzbekistan has randomly become a chess powerhouse as of late. They have won gold and silver in the two most recent chess olympiads.

I think by DarthPorg's methodology Borat would count for KazakhstanAristocrat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 9:50 pmAnyway, my goal here was mainly to help color in the map and go beyond my usual US/Western Europe picks. No connection to 503.

I considered Borat but didn't want to make the first Kazakh pick a stereotype, at least to the extent I was picking a character on the basis of the country and not because of some other reason. (I also considered Bin Laden but rejected for a similar reason)miminena wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 9:53 pmI think by DarthPorg's methodology Borat would count for KazakhstanAristocrat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 9:50 pmAnyway, my goal here was mainly to help color in the map and go beyond my usual US/Western Europe picks.
