So - I realize this sounds suspicious, but I have a question. Most versions of Mafia I’ve played start with a night phase before the first day. Is the meta here to try and catch a Mafia even before the first night? On one hand, we number only seven so those are decent odds. On the other, we would be whittling down an already small cast of innocents if we’re wrong.
We sometimes have Night Start, and as a GM I'm a bit of a fan of it, but a lot of our community really doesn't like it, so we more often have Day Start.

(The argument from the webDip community who dislike Night Start is "it's not fair for someone to get night killed after only 24 hours, it stops them being able to take part").

So, yes, our standard meta is to try to catch out a Mafia on Day One.
Ok, makes sense. I just don’t know who to vote for because it’s harder to spot tells online. But I saw the logic in what Bunny said about Dip coming back to absolve themselves and then cast suspicion on another.
As kaka said: it's not set in stone...votes only matter where they are when the day ends. Vote early, vote often.

Look at the bot https://mafia.peterlund.se/e/web/front_page to see vote tracking and reread for information.

DAY I. VOTECOUNT II.

DiplomacyandWarfare (II) - ghug, BunnyGo
Kakarroto (I) - damo666
BunnyGo (I) - DiplomacyandWarfare
DreamTrawler (I) - Jamiet99uk
Red Neurax (I) - Kakarroto

Currently DiplomacyandWarfare is set to be assassinated by under half of the people who agreed to do it

DreamTrawler, JustAGuyNamedWill, and Red Neurax still must place a vote

There is more than enough time today for the Senate to sort out their affairs

Uhhhh I'll ##vote Dip for now. Though I am tempted to spite vote Jamie for voting me I think that would just lead to worse outcomes.

"OMGUS" = Oh My God, U Suck - voting for someone because you're salty about them voting for you.

"NAGL" = Not A Good Look.

We've got some others, too, such as:

NAI = Not Alignment Indicative; i.e. something that player would do as any alignment

WIFOM = Wine In Front Of Me - a reference to The Princess Bride, meaning any thought process or action characterised by infinitely regressive reverse psychology. This means it could be reverse psychology, or reverse reverse psychology, or reverse reverse reverse psychology, etc.

To elaborate on the WIFOM definition:

""But that's just what he wants me to think, so I'll do the opposite. But maybe that's what he wants me to think, so I'll not do the opposite. But maybe that's what he wants me to think..." etc.

What other acronyms and sets of initials do we have, let's see...

ISO = ISOlated read - the practice of looking back over a single player's posts to look for themes or issues that stand out. Made easier in modern times by the Bot.

VCA = Vote Count Analysis - analysing the game in later days by looking at votes, vote movement during the day, and final voting positions.

BITW = Bo Is The Worst - a reference to a former player and still occasional forum lurker, Bo_Sox, who was the worst.

Hard to say; he's staying in his roleplay longer than I'd expect, but that's mostly NAI since he's clearly having fun with it.

I was wondering when you'd get around to posting something like this...

Are you not modifying for a 2 miskill non-mech game? If Dream is scum you'll give him a pass that long?

Good shout Bunny. This is a shorter game and will run for fewer phases. It's dangerous to give ANYONE a two-day free pass.

Think again, Will.

Obviously I dont know if Dream is scum, so I am giving him a pass on principle. Obviously if he claims to be mafia and gamethrows or something then I’ll vote him but besides that there aren’t many reasons I would go back on it

I haven’t really thought about how many miskills we have. If we only have two then I’m satisfied with only giving them a D1 pass

In general, the town are "behind" early because we know nothing and have limited "miskills" in our pockets (at 7-2 we start with 2 miskills allowed before we lose).

But as we are able to reread early days later, we can see trends once we know more. Last game, for example, town started pretty badly, but eventually we caught one person, and then another. And finally the last 3 town were able to recalibrate and find the final mafia.

Also, choosing not to kill doesn't earn us extra miskills (it burns half a miskill and we round down--because at 6-2 we now have 1 miskill allowed).

It also keeps us from learning anything.

So the meta locally is to usually try. We generally only intentionally not use our strongest weapon (our votes, and ability to generate information) for mechanical reasons in more mech heavy games.

Does that answer your question, or did I miss the intent?
I see, so the logic is town will be dying off every night anyway while a vote could kill mafia or town so it’s worth a try?
Yes. A D1 vote can also help us get more information to work with

I appreciate the D1 pass, Will. But tbh I don't mind if people vote for me even if I am new, this game is just me dipping my toes in anyway. (Though for what it is worth I am town lol)

By the knowledge of our minds
By the works made by our hands

The crowd jeered angrily at the reciter. Cinna’s poetry had gradually fallen out of favor during the past several months for three reasons. First, poetry was being scorned by the general public as a symbol of the aristocracy who patronized it. Second, his populist style of poetry in particular had come to be associated with the Senate and the aristocracy’s insistence that they were the true people of Rome. And, third and most importantly, Cinna shared a name with Cinna the Senator, vocal opponent of Julius Caesar, the dictator who was beloved by the people.
A rock flew over the speaker’s head, and several more followed it. The plebians, of course, thought that they were the true people of Rome.
Arrogant fools.
That thought was punctuated by several soldiers turning up to see who was making all the noise and why.
Time to go.
Cinna, wearing a dark hood, quietly backed away. In the chaos, nobody looked at his face or asked who he was.
At the other end of the crowd, Cinna turned and fled. He was not wearing a hood, but for all the attention his name brought, almost nobody knew his face.
Neither of them spared a thought for the poor man who now had the attention of both the crowd and the soldiers.

I took four years of Latin and I don't want any more.
I had none (just French and Russian instead) so I just use google translate for each sentence. If there are some strange translations in the big text, try to put it into it sentence for sentence. (Also the greek part has a 'subtitle', to transcribe it into latin alphabet, just to sound it out for those who can't read the greek one.)
Your word order is garbage and I've caught at least one incorrect verb form.
