I don't like worcej's plan (regardless of whether I'm on his list) and I think his picks are odd given his motivation (I think damo is actually more motivated to build consensus than most and Vecna's consistently low activity makes him less of that game-driving "good player" than me used to be). I think it's coming from a good place, though, and I think the questionableness of the logic is generally a sign that worcej is letting us see his real thought process.

My primary goal day 1 is to generate townreads and keep them alive. My secondary goal day 1 is to create enough movement to start giving us actionable information. Occasionally I'll get lost down a tunnel.

All else being equal, I'll usually vote for someone lurkier/harder to read. I can see the drawback to that approach, but I also think having lurkers around into the later days also has drawbacks, so I still think it's OK.

1. There is no such thing as a "new" player. Everyone has access to the game start post. Everyone has the ability to read said post. Presumably, everyone has the ability to reason -although as I will state below, this is a rarity.
2. Stating that you are a "new" player is meaningless. Stating you will help or protect a new player is not in the spirit of the game. By doing so, you limit your own ability to reason or deduce motivation.
3. There is no such thing as a "good" player. This is not objective, but subjective. As in, everyone has their own idea about what qualifies as "good".
4. Stating that someone is "good" is akin to poisoning a well. Considering that while everyone has access to the game start post, not everyone has access to fifteen years of meaningless, subjective opinion.
5. Limiting any vote to a subjective pool is a strange suggestion at best and highly suspect at worst.
6. The loudest person in the room often sets the terms of the conversation. This can lead to a consensus, but not through reason. I look for those that follow along. I look for those who drive a false conversation about an irrelevancy at an early stage. I look for slips and people who abruptly change their vote to hop onto something that is a 'sure' thing. I look for people who try to make a 'friend' because this certainly isn't the game for it. If you want to be 'good' in your own mind then I challenge each of you to play this with an eye towards making a reasonable deduction and not to be labeled 'good' by someone on an internet forum.
