Join me in setting up a Washington, DC Diplomacy group!
Hello!
There is a local Diplomacy group in the DC Metro Area called the Potomac Tea and Knife Society (PTKS), but it is slowly dying out, so much so that the group has hosted almost no in-person games at all over the last six years, and even before that rarely met anywhere Metro-accessible. The old organizers are about to lose access to their Meetup group, which will be deleted if somebody doesn't step up and claim the group before the 27th.
I'm hoping to revitalize the hobby in the DC Metro Area. A logical first step would be to take over the Meetup group that already has over 300 members. For DMV locals, who wants in?

I would, but I have no means of transportation, and I also run away from humans on sight, so in reality, there is no reason in me writing this post.

I have a friend in the area who might be interested in playing (but has never played Diplomacy)
Re: Join me in setting up a Washington, DC Diplomacy group!
At this stage I'm mainly looking for folks to help chip in and keep the group running, which may be a tall ask for somebody who's never played Diplomacy before. But if the group gets revived we'll certainly be looking to expand to new players!DreamTrawler wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:06 pmI have a friend in the area who might be interested in playing (but has never played Diplomacy)

My location is based off of the PPSST (People and Penguins Standards for Space Travel) notation, which has you state the location of the galaxy you are, and the planet that you are on. If you live on the moon (as I am) the planet you put is the planet the moon you are on orbits. There is also another notation for inter galaxy relations, but I assume that everyone here is in the Milky Way.

The Potomac Tea and Knife Society is renewed and up and running again! The club has paid to extend its meetup.com life for another 12 months, plenty of time to revitalize the hobby in the Metro DC Area.

Re: Join me in setting up a Washington, DC Diplomacy group!
Join us in Two Weeks!
We'll be hosting Diplomacy games on two February dates:
We're happy to update the Diplomacy community in the DMV that we have relaunched the Potomac Tea and Knife Society and that we hosted three successful games in January (see below), with more games coming up in two weeks (see above). We will continue hosting Diplomacy games monthly at Metro-accesible locations in DC. Whether you're here to learn the game or are a pillar of the hobby, we would love to meet you at one of our upcoming events. Another update: our Meetup is not going away:

Our January Games
We hosted three fun games over two days last month. About 17 individual players participated. And all three games had all seven Great Powers filled. Yay! We've been drawing games at the end of 1908 so that the time commitment is more predictable and plan to continue this model for our monthly games. While we intend to start rotating venues, we had a good experience at our venue for the January games (Lost Generation Brewing in DC right off the Metropolitan Branch Trail), so we'll be returning this month.
