There are several theories coming in from my crew for what precipitated this discord. One is that there is an error with the transporter that has caused some sort of psychosis. While I'd normally expect Counselor Troi to pick up on that, I've asked Chief O'Brien to investigate.

Chief Miles O'Brien entered Transporter Room 2 followed by Geordi LaForge to investigate the transporters used for shore leave.

"You really didn't have to come with me, Commander. I'm certain getting our communications array is taking all your time."

"I know I didn't have to come with you, but I just needed a break from that. And I could use a chance to talk with someone I trust. You've managed to stay on everyone's good side this past couple days. Which is very impressive, I thought everyone had chosen sides."

Chief O'Brien moved onto the transporter to begin taking it apart and investigating it. He responded, "Well, Commander, I remember the war with the Cardassians. You have to trust your crew, or there's nothing else there."

"Well said, Chief," said LaForge.

At that moment, a large group of enlisted officers burst into the room demanding Chief Miles O'Brien choose a side. As the shouts got louder, and the Chief's calming pleas were cut off, a weapon was fired, then another.

Before anyone realized what had happened, the transporter activated, and Chief O'Brien disappeared.

"There. He's trapped in a transporter loop. And he's not getting out until this is done," said Geordi LaForge. "Now, go about your business elsewhere."
