Re: Kamala Harris Victory Thread- Our new President
I still don't see an answer to the basic question so let me boil it down even more simply:
1. Do a significant number of Trump voters realise he is a serial liar, and just don't care?
1.a: If "Yes", why don't they care?
1.b: If "No", why don't they realise he is a serial liar despite a vast weight of widely-reported evidence?
2. Black people, Latino people, and women, in large numbers, appear to have voted for Trump. Why would non-white people vote for someone who is on record as a racist? Why would women vote for a rapist?

Re: Kamala Harris Victory Thread- Our new President
If you want to tell me that a large number of people voted Trump because Harris is a Zionist who actively supports the supply of weapons to apartheid, fascist Israel, that would be fine. So, if that's the case, let me know. At least that would be a reason to fuck her off.

Re: Kamala Harris Victory Thread- Our new President
Well many of those people who voted Trump also think the media overplays up his supposed racism and authoritarianism. They prefer his policies and ignore his overall remarks.

Lol, you'd think those would be pretty logical questions. The general stock answer that I get is "I'm not voting for a friend, I'm voting for the person I think can do the job." I think it comes down to the increasing polarity of the voting populace.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 10:31 pm

or possibly you could simplify it to "It's America, the bro's don't back the bitches"

I mean Joe Biden could step down and name her President so she gets to have a month of living that life I guess

Re: Kamala Harris Victory Thread- Our new President
1. Quite probably. There is a decent chunk of voters going policy over person. For all his faults as a human, there are a number of people who saw his policies as fair and valid. Also some people (ex. My dad) just hate what the policies of the dems and are sick of it.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 10:31 pm1. 2. Separate the person from the policies, fuck the dems being stronger than trump, etc. also depends on key issues and how they are spin my the candidates and media (ex: immigration. My dad had to wait and go through a long process to immigrate to the US legally, and thus doesn’t like how the dems are just letting people through without that. He considers it unfair, and one more reason he can’t stand the dems any more)

Almost no one in the West is thinking about this issue as much as you are.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 10:33 pmIf you want to tell me that a large number of people voted Trump because Harris is a Zionist who actively supports the supply of weapons to apartheid, fascist Israel, that would be fine. NBC:s exit polling had only 4% of voters choosing the entire category of "foreign policy" as their top issue from a list of only five options. Even within this category I expect many had in mind Russia-Ukraine, relations with China, and America's role in NATO more generally.
This is an aside but you keep using "zionist" as a slur, when it is defined as supporting Israel's right to exist — something you also begrudgingly do from time to time.

Re: Kamala Harris Victory Thread- Our new President
Trump's policies that I noticed:
- Massive tax cuts for the wealthy
- Building his stupid wall again
- Massive cuts to healthcare
- Hiring Elon Musk as his personal butler.
People vote for shit like that?

No race, creed, or ethnic or cultural group should be given special rights over, and at the expense of, others.Esquire Bertissimmo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 4:28 amThis is an aside but you keep using "zionist" as a slur, when it is defined as supporting Israel's right to exist — something you also begrudgingly do from time to time.
Zionism is a form of ethno-fascism which is incompatible with that.

Meanwhile, in Europe:
In an immediate reaction to the election result France and Germany call for a stronger, more sovereign Europe with the German Premier saying "The European Union must stand close together and act in a united manner"
The next day: The German government collapses
How the bloody hell did Europe manage to rule most of the world???

If you must know Jamie, the United States considers Israel an ally. This does not mean the average person actually carries strong passionate beliefs about Israel. Ive always observed that among countries in the middle east people just tend to repeat that Israel is our close ally; without much awareness of whatever Israel might be doing.
Part of why both Trump and Harris failed the world in policy was being too supportive of Israel. The American voters who were anti Israel were a fairly small left wing college aged group that was mostly pushed aside and given little voice. There were candidates who ran in this election in favor of a Palestinian state; and those candidates didnt do very well. namely people like Cornell West. (A small hint as to who I voted for).
You are very passionate about Israel being evil, and I dont even disagree. Expecting Americans to be reasonable and informed on genocide is like expecting criminals and thugs to be well versed in Poetry.
Trump is very anti Ukraine; but he will support Israel to an extent. Harris policy on Israel was very ridiculous and seemed mostly an attempt to have it all best of both worlds. It wasnt an inspiring stance but also voters probably would list Israeli aggression about 30th down a list of concerns.
If it gives you any hope, some of us cared. Even if our vote didnt really symbolize much

Re: Kamala Harris Victory Thread- Our new President
Sorry, just to be clear, my remark about Israel and Harris was somewhat facetious - I was remarking on how I might have voted (I would have spoiled my ballot or voted for a third party / write-in candidate). I was not suggesting that I thought the issue of Gaza had a significant impact on the outcome of the election.brainbomb wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 1:46 pmIf you must know Jamie, the United States considers Israel an ally. Re: Kamala Harris Victory Thread- Our new President
Add to this mass deportations and tariffs on all imports (not just those from China), both of which would likely be disastrous for the US economy if they're actually enacted. It's amazing to me how little of the public debate in this election focused on these monumental proposals.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 7:56 amTrump's policies that I noticed:

Many of the tariffs that are in question already exist and were increased under biden.

Re: Kamala Harris Victory Thread- Our new President
That's simply not true.
Trump has proposed a 10% universal tariff on all imports. Today, most US trade is tariff-free (the all-import average is less than 3%).
He has additionally proposed an *additional* 60-100% tariffs on imports from China, whereas the average rate is about 12% right now.

8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

I hate to indulge your weird interludes Sloth, but what the heck are you even talking about here lol?
Europe used to have some Christian purpose? Is this some endorsement of the Christianizing aspects of colonialism? Maybe you just felt like sharing your recipe for sweet-and-sour revelation sauce?

I mean biden did not undo a number of trumps tariffs in fact he increased them.
