Ghost Rating Challenge - 2025?

Everyone,

In 2023 I participated in a Ghost Rating Challenge here and it was one of the best games I've played in here and am starting up another batch. Hope some others are interested!

For anyone new to these, everyone that signs up simply gets put into groups of 7 by ascending Ghost Rating. That way everyone can get grouped at a table with roughly the same experience/success so everyone should feel free to sign up no matter how experienced or new you are here.

We'll be using Full Press Ghost Rating (Position) for these. Each group of 7 can decide on game settings for themselves - it sounds like there's some interest in 3 day or longer phases, and personally I'm kind of interested in playing rulebook with shorter retreat/build phases, but I'm flexible. Anon and scoring settings are also flexible.

To sign up, just copy and paste the list below while adding yourself to it. I'm thinking that we'll need a month to see interest, so thinking about starting after the new year in 2025?

I hope I did this right! Thanks for organizing DougJoe--it was a lot of fun last time.

Alidio--I think since you haven't played a classic full press game yet, you don't have a ghost rating for full press yet. Maybe you want to put yourself in the last position (so currently, #3), and just list your rank as "last."

Though I think we should prepare a protocol ahead of time in case of a NMRs. Last time around my group was having quite an entertaining game but we cut it short with a draw after we lost a player and didn't get a replacement. A plan to request a pause until a replacement player is found may be the best thing.

I support a plan to pause for a replacement. It might also be helpful to specify in advance a goal to get a replacement at a similar ghost rating as a game's existing players--it wouldn't seem fair for a very experienced player to join a beginners game here, for instance.

It's a mechanism to attempt to group players of similar ability - only one game for each group of seven... nothing unusually different from a classic press game.
