I appreciate what you're saying and I can understand the desire to want something to happen to come from a Town place. I am even leaning early Town on you. But I like worcej's reaction that this is not really the right direction to send us in. I feel the same way.brainbomb wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 6:07 pmA little over 12 hours into a game with less than a handful of pages and town has not won a game in the last 7 attempts the urgency to begin dialogue and get even something going is imperative. This observation from worcej while probably echoes how some feel also illustrates the lack of urgency and attention to detail that we will require to start getting discussions going. At the time this post happened there was very little happening and the need to start having dialogues is pretty important.

##VOTE Brainbrainbomb wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 4:16 pm1. Brainbomb
2. Ghug - has posted a bit and voted, not overly invested yet. null
3. BunnyGo - has posted a good amount and seems extremely skeptical of me. Null but activity is more in par with his town meta.
4. Glitterbomb - busy at work I assume. Null
5. Chaqa - has posted and pledged he will Shoot someone; worcej found that towny. Null
6. damo - no posts
7. Flavius no posts
8. JustAGuyNamedWill- has posted and seemed to imply he couldnt find the game thread. Has chirped up a bit more expressing skepticism of sparta and glitter. Moving him back to null.
9. Yoyoyozo - no posts
10. SpiritoftheRadio - a flurry of activity overnight, formed some quick scumreads. Seems to find bunny suspicious. Spirit is probably not as awkward as he was in spy vs spy game. Slight townlean
11. Spartaculous - asking theoretical questions about the setup and gimmicks. Voted damo early same as prior game. could be a decent thing to ask about since he seems to wonder if gimmicks work; wondering if he considers voting damo a gimmick? Null
12. worcej - had alot to say. Had some reads. Finds me scummy and said I seem
Nervous; and that he thinks my posts are too wordy. Probably town.
13. Balki no posts
14. Vecna TALKS LIKE THIS: processing : result is Vecna is funny. Chaqa finds it annoying and ghug seems to find it scummy due to the julius ceasar meta. Town as none of his takes felt manipulative

I do not mean to discourage you from trying to send us in whatever direction you choose. But I'm still going to sit here smugly and judge you for it.
Re: Mafia 91 - Battle for the Sunset Strip - GAME THREAD [Hidden]
Weve moved onto what appears to be a steady flow of people scumreading sparta it seems. Or im interpreting that and myself are the only popular scumreads being floated where the supporters are 2 players or more? Unless were taking the vecna votes as valid scumreads and not early rvs votes

In m88 he played this same way and got massively scumread for it. But then a handful of players white knighted him and he managed to make a positive impact on the game for town.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 6:15 pmWhat is your read of Sparta?brainbomb wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 6:13 pmWeve moved onto what appears to be a steady flow of people scumreading sparta it seems. What does it mean? Not a whole lot but his energy and interest in the game is identical to last time even if his ideas may have some issues or it seems too methodical. Null for me. I dont have an overall bad feeling however

Questions:
1. Why will this not work?
2. Why are you insinuating I am worried?
3. How is this not playing the game?
2. You're focused on it.
3. The game is catching mafia. Discussing mechanics (in this setup) is not catching mafia.

Re: Mafia 91 - Battle for the Sunset Strip - GAME THREAD [Hidden]
Hypothetical
When you ask someone to provide you with clarification on another players meta do you take that clarification on as factual or do you just use that to see what the person tries to present?
For me I tend to prefer producing content rather than defending it, or asking others to defend their own. I dont typically try to ask people to defend their stances or to explain them. Im more about going after the fine details and picking at them for discovered potential scumtells; or mostly just enjoy building
Up theories and providing experiences to support them.

I hate having to repeat my cases and stances because I want my thoughts to be influential and useful the first time I say them. Enough to know people actually read them. Where ive always struggled is that I change my mind and think about the game in as many ways as I can and its often small things I fixate on which people dont buy into.
Weird thing is I have nothing so far and I dont think that scum are just hiding however I dont have any lead as to which reality were living in yet

My gut is actually leaning town here. I sense a real anxiety around wasted opportunity in the search for a way to optimize the mechanics, even if I don't like that being the focus of discussion. In general I find hiding behind mechanics far more icky when the person is right about the mechanics.

Re: Mafia 91 - Battle for the Sunset Strip - GAME THREAD [Hidden]
OK, getting into it and responding to what I missed since I’ve been working.
It was said that Glitter needs to explain how Glitter plays – agreed! And I thought I’ve been doing that. Will continue to do so. Here’s some points to get us going.
The Vecna/me thing identifying as a newbie has been massively overblown. I mentioned in one of my first posts not having played with several of the players that are in this game. And then Vecna came in as an all-caps robot (which I wasn’t expecting because their first post was a non-robotic “yay”) asking for me to identify myself, which is what I did. I also clarified this (myself) in post 91 first thing this morning.
Other Vecna observations… Post 36 raises concerns for me. Why is Vecna stating that Spartaculous’s probability of continued survival are low? It seemed like they were specifically calling out Spartaculous, but it may have been everyone that the comment was directed at despite tagging Sparta’s post? Intriguing to me.
Post 49 could be interpreted as me defending Vecna…. But I was just engaging in conversation with Sparta about Brain’s comment saying that gimmicks can be potential tools.
Post 55 – Spartaculous states that everyone survives D1 and we go into N1 as 14 – is that true? Aren’t we voting someone out during the day and subsequently going into N1 as 13? Am I missing something?
Defending Brain? Maybe a bit, but I’m also usually always looking at every perspective. I agreed with Bunny that I noticed a lack of small talk and that I didn’t necessarily get a scum read out of that because if I did then I’d have to say that about a good chunk of the players in this game who go right into business. Vecna’s assertions that I’m protectively shielding Brain based on those minor comments I made are wild.
I never said people weren't friendly. If anything, just lots of personalities which is to be expected. What frustrates me is the number of inactive folks.
And as far as playing differently based on what I’ve learned in my other games, I’ve been trying to take it all in and adjust, yes. But I also do believe there’s something to be said for gut. My first game I suspected and voted for Eden because of massive amounts of posts and directives. I listened to others and turned my attentions elsewhere and turns out, I was right in the end. So that’s what made me paranoid about Bunny in my second game. He seemed to be posting similarly to how Eden did, so I was wary of it. I was wrong. Also in my second game, Worcej went all mechs heavy. I don’t know if that’s a common thing for folks to do in most games, but I don’t recall it really happening much in my first. The amount of analysis Worcej did made me totally let up my guard on him (for the tiny bit that was maybe remaining suspicious) and turns out he was scum. So I’m hesitant to say that Spartaculous is scum just because of the probability/mechs post. What I’ve been trying to do is group behaviors across players and that doesn’t necessarily seem to be applicable. So that’s what I’ve mainly learned and am using to adjust how I play.
Back to work I go!

You are correct, unless we tie the vote (which is almost certainly a bad idea). I just didn't want to do two separate simulations of 10/3 and 11/2 splits.GlitterBomb wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 6:59 pmPost 55 – Spartaculous states that everyone survives D1 and we go into N1 as 14 – is that true?
