I want to work with France, but it seems their general does not want to work with mine, while your general apparently does!

The Russian Diplomats have words to say but now is not the time to say them. It is night in Moscow and the Czar must sleep. See you all tomorrow.

Judging by the fact that our generals are the true tellers of our fate, would it be safe to assume the French general is unreliable as an ally?

I have come to a conclusion.
Whatever we say in here doesn’t matter. However sincere we are, our generals make the call. We have no say in the matter. The only reason they would follow our orders is if they want to have their choices determined for them.
Realizing no one here has power,
The Overthrown Diplomat of France, Pengwinja.

To France - sorry to hear about the sacking of your diplomat. Would you like a Russian replacement?
To Austria - apologies that we seem to be coming into conflict. I would like to avoid it yet and extend an arm of peace, however, considering your diplomat is MIA, and the telegraph lines to the front have been cut, this may not be possible.
To Turkey - Agreed. Our generals can take care of the tactics.
To England - you may have bigger problems to worry about now. If you leave, and give the Russians Norway, we'll leave the northern front alone.
Signed, Czar

I believe that a military takeover has happened. Diplomacy is probably not going to help, because I have no idea what my generals trying to do.DarthPorg36 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 12:10 pmTo France - sorry to hear about the sacking of your diplomat. Would you like a Russian replacement?

Re: Pairs Diplomacy Game Thread
On behalf of Italy, we are very sorry to hear about the overthrow of the French diplomat. Unfortunately, war is still war.
In the interest of transparency, I will announce what I am ordering my general to do. However, I will still give relative freedom to my general to prevent other countries from knowing precisely what will happen.
To my general:
Looking at the map, I want to confirm the continuation of the French campaign in the west. You can either march the army in Apulia to Piedmont or bring it back to Tunis. Doing that gives more freedom to the remaining fleets for naval operations. In the meantime, moving into both the Gulf of Lyon and the Western Mediterranean seems crucial to keep the French guessing.
To England and Germany:
I know you all have your objectives, but my invitation to join me in ripping apart France is always open, and we'd love to have you with us.

Re: Pairs Diplomacy Game Thread
To my general - I understand multiple generals have broken with their diplomat's requests, but I think we will be more effective if our goals are aligned. I request the following moves:
Holland support holds Belgium, who in turn supports Munich into Burgundy. If the French general merely support-holds Burgundy, it will be no harm no foul. This move is simply to ward off an attack.
Heligoland heads to the North Sea, most likely supported by Denmark. If you think we will not encounter resistance (unlikely) you could also head elsewhere from Denmark, like the Skagerrak.

Re: Pairs Diplomacy Game Thread
Because the challenges facing the Sultanate remain tactical in nature, I will defer to my highly capable general. I ask only that the general continue to honor our peace with the Russian Empire.
The past turn has made clear that we work for our generals, not the other way around. At the end of the day, what we can do is present them with agreements and opportunities that they may find attractive, and to hope that they value our credibility. It's an interesting challenge.

To my English general, move how you see fit, I would say though that the Germans moving to North Sea is very aggressively anti-England
Re: Pairs Diplomacy Game Thread
To our honored partner the Czar,
While I continue to believe that tactics are best left to the generals, the Sultanate humbly requests that our Russian partners cut support in Serbia. We understand that this is a request that may not be fulfilled. Indeed, it is probably best for you not to state your intention with regards to this request.
To the great Enver Pasha, Sword of the Empire,
The diplomatic corps has full trust in your tactical and strategic brilliance. We ask that, in forming your plans for the coming year, you keep in mind that we have asked for, but may not receive, a Russian attack on Serbia.

To the glorious keepers of Rome,
The Ottoman Empire thanks Italy for its continued friendship. We reiterate our intention not to encroach on the Ionian Sea, so long as Italy maintains its policy of noninterference in the Balkan theater. The Italian people have our support against the chaotic military dictatorship of France (and they said Napoleon was dead!)

Re: Pairs Diplomacy Game Thread
I was not expecting to get into Burgundy this turn. I am sorry to hear about the civil disorder caused by the military takeover, but I hear rumors that the unrest will be quelled and you will have a new general soon.
I will leave the option open to continue our alliance, as fighting a two front war may be tough. but I would need to see some assurances, like a move to the channel or a fleet build in Brest.
Speaking of builds, to my own wonderful general, army Munich and fleet Kiel are both good options, I leave the decision to you.

To the Ottoman Empire,
Thank you for clarifying and your continued support, which we value highly. We will continue to stay out of the Balkan area.
To France, unfortunately, we are making some good progress in your country and have no intentions of stopping anytime soon. Sorry.
To the Kaiser (and Germany's general), we celebrate your declaration of war against France, whether or not you agreed upon it. I will respect your final decision of what you do with the army in Burgundy, but if you would like to support our army from Piedmont into Marseilles, we would be very grateful and return the favour later.

To the French General,
The British don’t like us, and the Italians don’t like us, and the Turks don’t like us. The Germans have the possibility of liking us and Russia… uh… i don’t know how Russia feels. Austria is non-existent.
Essentially, be friendly towards Germany, and fight against the Italians. Also the British if you can.
To the Kaiser, and his general,
We may be preoccupied with the Italians to provide much support against the British, but it would be great if you wouldn’t interfere with the war between me and Italy on the Italian side. I highly doubt they want to be your best friends.
Typing stuff,
The Diplomat of France, Pengwinja.
