Prime fame sport?
Given that we got a pass on whether their primary source of fame was politics, we'll probably get a pass on this as well, if sports is indeed the other thing.

It is important to remember though, that the initial pass was on "arts or politics". If it was, say, an actor who is also a politician, that would have gotten a "yes" because their primary source of fame is clearly at least one of those. So asking about sports is a good idea.

Did this person ever serve in the US House of Representatives or the US Senate, or as a state or territory governor?

Two questions left, a hint will be given after question 20 if I can come up with one.

Is this person primarily famous for committing a crime, being a victim of crime, or for being a part of government (distinct from being an elected politician - think judge, prosecutor, law enforcement officer, civil servant, department head, and sure we can toss astronaut in here too if part of a government run space program)?

To make sure I understand, you are asking if this person is famous for a position in government that isn't their elected one?

I don't think this is the answer, but it's the best I can come up with:

Tom Steyer

(not a guess)

There’s no way it’s Trump, right? He’s definitely been in the news in the last year.

I feel like it must be some other notable dark horse candidate though. Cornel West doesn’t fit the birthplace but idk

I'd say Trump is definitely primarily famous for politics.

Nowadays, but he’s kind of also just famous for his whole persona. But true, it would be weird to pass.
