Thoughts on scumhunting: It is usually not very effective to find town by looking for what you think good townies do, and to find scum by looking for what you think scum do. I think it’s easier to do the opposite. Look for posts that scum would be very unlikely to make (there is your townie) and look for posts that town would be very unlikely to make (there is your scum).

Summary on Damo: Damo666 has made a bunch of posts that I don’t expect scum to make. I expect scum to make some effort to blend in. To make an effort to avoid controversy and suspicion and to add window dressing. Damo666 has made a bunch of posts that scum would not make, as they avoid any sort of window dressing or attempt to blend. Moreover -- Damo continually defended or minimized other potential wagons all day, even when he himself was under pressure. I think Scum Damo tries to find another wagon to push. He has consistently done the opposite.

Examples:

“Just had an initial read through and no real scum reads but several strongish townreads. Will divulge soon.”

This seems authentic and sincere to me. It almost invites criticism and suspicion – “why don’t you have a scumread!?” “Why not say your results now?!” – there is no attempt to blend.

I don't love the pile on to Yavuz, but the fact that he thought about it, took in more info, and left that wagon, shows that he's not being that opportunistic about joining this wagon. If he was just trying to park on a non-controversial place, why not stay there? He could have easily stayed there. Instead, he left, and validated the other departures from Yavu. Does not seem like someone trying to opportunistically park a vote.

Here he has a substantive answer, that provides some accountability, though he does not dress it up as a large analysis. Also, he is defending yet another lynch target, which he has done all day, even when under some fire. He does not seem to be scanning for targets to lynch. He seems to be sincerely finding town reads.

I played about 8 games maybe from M4 to M15? Not really sure exactly how many, but I didn’t play a lot in my last few years of college.

Tom – Why I town read you initially
I thought your early game posts were generally inquisitive and towny. Your early vote on Peter seemed like a towny thing to do to get discussion going early on. But that never developed into actually pushing any players or gaining information. Which made my town read on you cool a bit.

Ike - I'll do a full re-read later on but suffice to say for now I'll move my vote off you.

Top wagons are Damo and RHK, both are at 5 in my mind because Damo will vote to save himself. If I move off of THD he has 3 and is not even close to a top wagon. Quit trying to paint me Scummy or if you're going to do it please do it well

I just read his ISO. My impression is that he is flinging shade all over the thread in a way that scum often do. Look around for things to call people on. It is subtly different than most town process -- which involves more town reads and more puzzling. Hard to explain, that one.

But he flings shade at Ike. He flings shade at Damo. He flings shade at Jamiet. He flings shade at xorxes. He flings shade at me. Never much of a defense or a town read of anyone.

Looks a lot like scum to me.

And the kicker for me is that ghug started that wagon. If ghug is town, I respect his view. If ghug is scum, ghug is such a consistent busser! Being with ghug on Day 1 is a good place to be.

It was a very memorable moment. He pulled a whole 'vote for me' self lynching act for like the whole game and we all thought it was ridiculous...then he was scum and won the game (I think)

Taking all the content out of Balki's post because this point is all I need - I agree with this. Damo is behaving exactly the same as he did when DrCJG and I pushed him to be lynched on D1.

I don't think he is playing any different than normal, he always unvotes a lot instead of just moving it.

Since the wagons are consolidating, I am going with ##vote thd. My main scum read is still Ike, but thd's votes have been somewhat meh due to little reason/explanation (none for Ike and Demon is a 'I think damo or him are scum' with no substance).
