I honestly can’t tell with him. His self assessment seems off. But I believe him to be a good chess player. So I believe he is aware what strong play and ability is.
But he also has made statements that suggest he thinks he’s a strong mathematician. And now the spades statement. I think his calibration may be off. But I honestly don’t know.

What I meant above is, I honestly can’t tell who you are. At once you seem self aware, but then at another time seem to use words that can’t possibly mean what I think most people of that community would define that way.
I have a Graduate degree in Mathematics and engage in Math related behavior during my free time sometimes. So I would say I am a mathematician.

I was wounded by your comments. I absolutely love team games, but I rarely get to play them because I hardly have anyone to play with.
Growing up I played Basketball all day everyday. I was pretty darn good, probably Varsity level but certainly at least JV.
But for two years in a row I didn't make the team. This was due to having no friends trying out and nobody would pass me the ball. I was freaking amazing at defense and was probably the best or near best at stealing, and great at rebounding. And I was such a team player, I almost always passed to a teammate. On offense I never touched the ball despite being a competent shooter.
Anyways, you don't know what you are talking about Bunny, my favorite thing in a game is to support my teammates, and that includes when I played Chess on a team. It's more important to me that my friends do well than myself.

I do mean it though that playing a team game with incomplete information unshared among teammates is unique.
But I do see that I misunderstood some of your motivations too. Which is why I’ll try to find time to be clear about my thinking soon. I had really thought you were just trying to prove a point at the cost of town’s ability to play together.

I don't intend to play this way next game, I realize now it's just not going to happen this way, most players here are already set in their ways.

Re: M 90: Shootout at the Pretty Good Corral
Your second paragraph is spot on. There's a big difference between "meta game" in things like MtG and "meta game" in limited information teammate games. The style *can* change, but there needs to be a larger discussion around it and an understanding of the cost/benefit of staying and changing.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 11:01 pmI have been trying to prove a point. Will do some rereading but I recall balki challenging me on my lfischl read twice, he also challeneged me on my rdr read; and on my Jamie read
But seemed to say nothing about my townreads of kotp, damo, or demonrhk.
I have no idea where to look at present but I think flavius is potentially scum here for the sheer lack of interaction I can remember between balki and himself

And she said 12 minutes had gone by of no one talking when we were just past souix city. And I laughed and said yea its basically a giant chatroom that goes dead sometimes. She said people were talking about mathematics and thats when I told her she didnt have to keep reading because the game had gone into that mode of uninteresting stuff.

Re: M 90: Shootout at the Pretty Good Corral
Brainbomb was the actual fake crumber by the way. He did a flavour text starting with "Sheriff". Then, capitalized "Holliday" when mentioning going back to his Holiday.
Then insisted damo was Town (presumably because he scanned him as Town).
