Reviewing the game so far, I have to vote for sweet. Sweet's claim is not beneficial, in my opinion, from any town role perspective. I see brain believes that it is a possible tactic to draw scum attention onto a VT, and I understand this. But I don't think that town trying to confuse mafia is a good play for town, because mafia have information, and town does not. Fake claims lead to misunderstanding and division for town. For example, mafia can profit from sweet's fakeclaim by simply ignoring him, enabling a suspicion-spiral later in the game. Sweet's play undermines the town more than it enables our PRs.

My favorite example is on UK MasterChef Professionals, there was a chef named "Louisa". Almost all the time they called her "Louiser", and every once in a while "Louisa". I forget what type of sentences elicited the normal "Louisa" pronunciation.

Well the Desperado could legit go on a spree and win the game on day 1. It isnt realistic to imagine.

That is potentially more powerful than the standard Desperado that I have used before. I'm sure it doesn't usually have the potential for unlimited shots.

This version of it was used on my scumteam by darg in a game where you and I were scum together with vaporwave, xorxes, and moscowfleet. We got our asses handed to us because we thought flash was the cop and flipped vt. Them tom bomb fake claimed a cop guilty on me and on you day 3, and dargo shot us both- then tom flipped vt. Then real cop caught moscow and darg shot both moscow and xorx d4, then vapor conceded.

It was one of the worst scumteams in human history

That was a fine play by Tom Bomb though.

I thought that brain's read of bona implied he was more likely town, as scum would have more communications with bona implicated. I was trying to decide if sweet was making a sub rosa joke, but I don't think that would be alignment indicative for the second person to err.

The explanation was made in the god thread and in the main thread last game - though you died early and may not have been paying attention. Sweet is telling us that he is smarter than the rest of us. His claim is ego-driven (no offense, sweet!) as he is not willing to believe there may be valid reasoning in the beliefs of others that fake-claiming is bad for town.

Worry not, I use that term as well. There are lots of plays made in this game that are ego driven.

Ego is best avoided, but it can be fun.

I think that it would be wise to be less reliant on this "too scummy to be scum" defense.

Sweet's did not claim PR, he claimed "I am going to play in a way that is bad for Town."

That works as a scum play only because the prevailing view around here is: "too scummy to be scum." And it is a very easy ploy. It has also allowed him to avoid talking about alignments. He just keeps telling everyone how hard his claim is.
