Is this person's accomplishments most known, or are they themselves most known?
ie; Newton is a well known figure, but some invention might be what has outlived another person, and the person who made it isnt that well known

Is this person most known for their accomplishments, and not themself is a well known figure?

Highlighted confusing at minimum. I think (though I stand to be corrected) our subject was born in either Scotland or non-North West England.Aristocrat wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 5:27 pmOfficial Summary:
1, 9. Real Male
2, 7, 10. Born September 14 1759 - April 14, 1865
3, 5, 6, 8, 11, 14. Born in what is now the UK. Not born in what is currently England, but not the region of North West England. Not born in part of the UK outside of the British Isles. Not born in Wales or the island of Ireland. (Also not born in the part of UK that is in the Eastern Hemisphere)
4. Not a native speaker of an Italic (including Romance), Slavic, or Indo-Iranian language
12. Not an author of published fiction, poetry or plays
13. Not a prominent figure in the Napoleonic Wars, or the events that followed immediately thereafter, or before
15. Not involved in Canadian politics.
This will go to 22 questions (one question to make up for the Canadian politics one, and one as penance for the mistake in general).

I was just copy/pasting per the question.damo666 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 6:54 pmHighlighted confusing at minimum. I think (though I stand to be corrected) our subject was born in either Scotland or non-North West England.Aristocrat wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 5:27 pmOfficial Summary:

To clear things up, the answer to "Born in what is currently England, but not the region of North West England?" was "No." So it would be Scotland or North West England (when combined with the other questions).

As far as I know this person was born in either (what is now) Scotland, North West England, or a small island that is associated with Ireland or Northern Ireland.

Answers/Clue:
This person's fame was first gained in their country of birth, from what I understand. So to the extent your question is asking about the first place of fame, the answer would be no. But they have gained fame worldwide. In fact, this person's name is more well known than everyone guessed so far.
It is not Thomas Blake Glover.
