Not really. If the Driver targets the person with the Box, they affect people trying to *visit* that person, not who the Box gets passed to.

The driver could redirect the box, but if the intended recipient of the box does not get it, we would just need the box holder to claim again. The mafia could redirect the boss to themselves, but they would be forced to claim the box. However, that potentially is a downside to box claiming.

Pandora’s Box is most likely in the hands of a Townie, and it offers that person a power. Let’s keep that info hidden for that reason.

Also, Town has an Observer and Mafia doesn’t. Observer is pretty darn critical, and will help us assess claims about the Box and PR claims later on.

Let’s keep PR and Box information quiet on Day 1. No fake claims. No real claims. Let’s just hunt scum.

It seems to me that there is some value in the box holder claiming and announcing where the box is going. If the box is in scum hands and that information stays hidden, it would be a significant benefit to the mafia.

The box protects the recipient from Mafia kill though. If Mafia knows who is getting the box they know who not to target.

I forgot about that, I think that is a good argument against the box holder claiming. How about claiming the next day?

I agree the box holder should not claim unless there is a consensus that claiming is a good idea. I considered what you are saying, but I thought the doc could protect the box holder, then xorxes pointed out that the current box holder can't be NKed, so that mafia would have to NK at least one day behind. However, this is part of the trade off, since some items are good to hold onto more than a day.

This is assuming that the person holding the box isn't scum and scum actually want to target whoever is holding the box. However it's something we need to look into more, who benefits more from knowing? Scum could try to target box holders, but then box holders get to direct kills.... hmmm

I am not sure you are right, I thought the holder of the box is protected.

Looking at the setup, the order of operations says that box delivery occurs before the NK, so it seems like it may be the receiver who is protected by the box.
