Is South America the closest continent to the island of his birth?

If yes, free guess: Terry Peck.
Question is still useful for stuff like Trinidad and Tobago, but note that we ruled out Southern Hemisphere (so no Falklands)
Ah right. Scratch the question and guess.

No.

This rules out some small islands, although not Trinidad and Tobago because Wikipedia has it as part of North America.

I missed that it was scratched, so consider it a free hint: this person was not born in South America, by any stretch of the imagination.

I have been explicit about the definitions I'm using for a reason.

Also just to preempt people, I'm not playing games like "This Danish island is technically not on the map".

Can I get a clarification on your definition of Atlantic island- this is excluding seas like Caribbean and Mediterranean right?

And similarly if an island is marked green on the Wikipedia maps for North America or Europe it’s out right?

Whoops, forgot to add "male" to the summary.

1,4. Real human, not born on the mainland of one of the seven continents
2. Not a fictional character
3. Not born on an island located in the Pacific Ocean
5,10. Not born in what is now the UK, Ireland, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, France, Cuba, Jamaica, or Sri Lanka
6,12. Born after 1899
7. Not a native speaker of a Romance language
8. Not born in the Southern Hemisphere
9. Not born in North America or Europe (using the full Wikipedia green area definitions, islands and all)
11. Male
Tut tut lol

No. This is why I specifically said that I'm using the Wikipedia map.

I regret using the Wikipedia definition of the Atlantic rather than passing on the question and asking for clarification. To compensate, I am giving you three additional questions, so you have five left. You're on the verge or figuring out this person's island of birth, but figuring out the individual might take some more narrowing down.

By deduction:
a) it can't be the Caribbean; all of those islands are in North America;
b) it can't be the mid-Atlantic islands; all of those are either in Europe (Iceland), or controlled by a European country (Azores, Canaries, Ascenscion, etc);
c) almost all of the islands in the Med are controlled by a European country, with the single exception I can think of ...

Was this person born in Cyprus?

Was this person born in Bermuda?

(**mainland** Europe)

Bermuda would have counted as North America though.

Well done cdngooner figuring out the island. Now four more questions to figure out the individual.
