If there is anyone thinking about playing mafia but is intimidated, or anyone new who wants a little advice, I'd be willing to hydra (if Fox allows it of course).

I hope newer players will join mafia, because I think it helps the game stay fresh.

Squigs, if you're offer is still valid, I'd gladly be your hydra (although not even sure why I'm supposed to grow new heads...?). I have a very vague understanding of the game, and I reckon I could only benefit from someone experienced rather than embarrass myself by posting a silly question.

This post (from the Mafia Master Thread) has a great guide on playing mafia here, everything from basic principles and strategies for looking at the game overall to how to play as town/mafia specifically. You can also read old games to get an idea of how things go—I'd recommend focusing on segments leading up to the End of Day (EOD) lynchings, and maybe skip the first 20 pages or so of any game, which are a lot of banter and joking around while nobody has much to go on. You can also reread the scum QTs from previous games to get an idea of how that team approaches the game. Previous games are also listed at the end of that post.

Familiarizing yourself with the Peterbot is also helpful. It tracks votes, makes the game thread searchable, lets you read specific players in isolation (iso), and is just a pretty great tool for viewing the facts of the game.
