Re: M89: Baldurs Gate Mafia Game Thread
I'm doing work until closer to deadline.
Not interested in voting Dip without any case.
Not interested in voted Ghug yet even though he susses me tsk tsk. (I forgot he was a wagon actually)
I find Jamiet a little scummy but I also do feel bad voting him, so consider my vote half on Ifischl.

I know it's the most annoying question when I'm sure you've said it before, but can you give me the reasons again. Or is it an easy find in your iso lolBalki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 7:42 pmYou guys should try out this Dousing wagon. It's comfy.

Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 6:30 pmJust read Dousing ISO. Eek.
##vote Dousing
I hadn't really focused on Dousing until this point, but in the back of my mind I had him sorted as Town.
Reading his ISO, a few things stand out:
(1) He has this take on Fluminator and the tadpole early on and then much of his day is about that thing. Just feels like he may be using Flum/tadpole as a crutch for engagement rather than showing much curiosity or interest in the rest of the game. Then says without trying to be ironic: "I feel like we’re spending 90% of our energy talking about the tadpole. Is there a chance we’re that the tadpole is a bit of a red herring?"
(2) Keeps telling us that he has been reading lots of pages but keeps his focus very narrow on a handful of subjects.
(3) Makes a long post about the various reasons mafia might have killed Kak without really saying anything at all.
(4) Concludes "Foxcastle cooked and made the best argument I've seen this game so far" while not townreading Foxcastle, which seems like just the right note to play as a Wolf, whether partnered with Fox or not, as it further discredits me while taking no committed position on any alignment.
I think this is a good flip.

Hmmm, probably four Town on fisch.
I should show respect and make the team play.
##VOTE lfischl
It's not a bad wagon, but I'm unsure what we will learn.

soft meta accusation, asking for exterior confirmation because unwilling to take a standVecna wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 4:15 pmthis post just reminded me of something.FlaviusAetius wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 9:40 amI think people did this because the cases on people werent good;Bonatogether wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 3:49 am
my point is that it makes the whole thing dumb as rocks - if there's a clearly laid out case, voting is taking a position on that case. this d1, people spent more time arguing about if a case existed than about the actual cases. this is posting without positioning, and it's probably difficult to discern anything from it atm. (inb4 someone says 'bona says no rereading! bona says no rereading!' that's not what i'm saying. i'm saying that there's an extra layer of shit compared to normal)
HB cracked under pressure from damo, who never explained his case
lfischl's case was never made(?) atleast not that Im aware of
My case was a flash wagon kept alive from two people who were AFK and didnt have a reason for voting me in the first place
Flum's wagon did have a reasoning behind it...but nothing else really came up so I had to kill it
Dip's wagon didnt gain steam quick enough so we were forced back into the HB & Damo question
All of the wagons were weak D1 and damo being alive right now gives us more questions than answers.
lfischl did not attack anyone over getting voted.
As town the slot always lurked a bit, but it would always come out of hiding to attack people voting them with genuine righteous indignation. This has been a consistent characteristic i remember occuring in a number of games.
Anyone have any more recent meta-stuff that jives with or disagrees with ny assesment that this could be a thing?
scum!
Re: M89: Baldurs Gate Mafia Game Thread
I don’t think that dip or Jamie are scum from posts/the framing kak made. More so feel for how conversations are going. I do think bunny has felt wish/washy sighting when someone said that he was saying dip was town then voted for dip when they had a lot of votes. Not sure if meant anything just wanted to point out

Why would I be OFFENDED that you are thinking Im a townie? That is not scum behavior.
I'm willing to give pass to people who pushed damo only on day 1, but the people pushing him today are on thin ice.

Re: M89: Baldurs Gate Mafia Game Thread
were you the appointed yapper?FlaviusAetius wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 5:02 pmNo Im just saying that because the mafia are able to have higher coordination this time around from pretty much out of the gate; they probably chose to give people multiple roles to play in this game. Someone will be their "lurker"(I think there's only one), someone will be their skater (minimum talking), someone will be their solver(who will do a lot of analysis), someone will be the person who just talks a lot etcBalki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 4:43 pmCan you finish this thought or elaborate on it?FlaviusAetius wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 4:41 pmNo I think you got it all wrong, the mafia are all not going to be playing the same style of play; they have day chat they can mix it up and go for different routes and heavily coordinate that. I think the best way to find mafia is to see woho would be MOST comfortable playing a lurker, who would be MOST comfortable talking all day, who would be MOST comfortable being a big solver
What do you mean see who would be most comfortable doing what? How do you tell the difference between comfortable town and comfortable scum?
And the people who will play those roles are the people who are most comfortable playing them. You described one type of mafia and said oh well Im looking at people who are playing that kind of role and I think that is WRONG.

Re: M89: Baldurs Gate Mafia Game Thread
some would say we're magically dumber on this day, by virtue of playing mafiaEzio wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 5:53 pmBe better. We weren't magically smarter on D1 than we are now. Why do you feel we "need" to target someone that was a train EoD1?Col7by wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 5:50 pmI am because they were a train EOD1 and think that we need to target someone in thatFlaviusAetius wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 5:33 pm
Let's vote ghug, even damo thinks ghug is suspciions, those who are voting @Diplomacy ghug would tell us more about Kak's team than Diplomacy dying
Those voting @fischl why this lurker and not Ezio? @foodcoats made a pretty convincing case why Ezio should be the lurker we take down not fischl
Ezio agrees with my ghug read though so I cant attack him now; but you are voting a lurker for no reason; at least foodcoats made a convincing argument

i did not try to get you to not vote ghugBunnyGo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 6:13 pmHe’s done his “minimal post, minimal words, but at key spots” thing. This is NAI.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 6:05 pmWe are all having a very robust discussion about our feelings on Bonatogether's alignment. Woud you please share your thoughts on that?
Sone things that stood out to me (because they involved me): he tried hard to get me to lay off ghug.
He tried to get people to layoff me while simultaneously giving me fun (by poking it at me).
These are more Town of him, but within his capabilities as scum.

I have returned as promised!
I was going to make a spreadsheet. That didn't work, so I more or less abandoned the idea.Foxcastle wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 5:38 pmNo bulk analysis was reported. Thread participation was not low... What happened? Why make this post and then just forget about it?DiplomacyandWarfare wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:46 pmI'm going to do a lot of analysis. Expect low thread participation tonight and for most of D2.
