No. Players need to be keyed into important discussions like this as much as a GM, and to pretend otherwise for "civility" is admitting we don't want to play an honest gameBalki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 6:19 pmPlease keep any GM feedback out of this thread. Send a DM. Thanks.

Please flesh out this theory about how scum might use their profile pictures to signal to each other. Why would you be considering that if you were scum?

Please explain why Snowy looks very town in that. I don't have that impression.
Re: Mafia 87: Madness in Mega-City One - GAME THREAD
Tonight, I list out a series of possibilities to changing my profile picture, if I had one. Small changes that involve pixel level details, or perhaps near-impossible to notice details that would fade into the backgroundBalki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 6:22 pmPlease flesh out this theory about how scum might use their profile pictures to signal to each other. Then the next day, at either a signalled time or comment based queue, I would seek out these changes to my teammates' profile picture to see what it is they desire to communicate to me
It's not a difficult schema to come up with
You may argue why you can't do the same thing with coded comments, but comments leave a history, while profile pictures do not. It would be dishonest gameplay, regardless of its effectiveness

I have neither shouted nor insulted you. That a response is stupid does not mean that you are
Your solo-GMing this game has no merit in this discussion. You are the GM
There is no reason to believe this behavior has stopped, as you have explicitly allowed it to continue
Frankly, if I were scum I'm already considering subtle changes to my profile picture to signal to each other during the game, regardless of the intent of Will's changes
that looks sincere and not intended to game the system

It has been clarified that Jamie only allowed changing of profile pictures, not explicitly telling him he could use mine.

It would be an efficient use of your time to create a code using "pixel level details" of changes in an avatar, when you could just say: "bros, if I start my third post with a 'T' it means let's implement Operation Crimson Sky"?
This is a sincere concern that you have?

Anyway I randomly got triggered side eyeing the thread while working, so I shall (try to) be off again

Why does that look sincere? It is a silly concern that seems unlikely to come from a sincere place to me. Why does it look sincere to you?brainbomb wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 6:27 pm@balkisnowy801 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 6:19 pm

No. It is a sincere concern of mine that out of game mechanics that is untrackable and unenforceable to be injected into a game of forum mafia, where it is explicitly understood that we are playing "to win" not joke around and have fun with friends, which is certainly another valid way to playing deduction gamesBalki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 6:28 pmWould you really do that? I do not particularly care how effective those methods are, simply that they have been explicitly green lit by the GM

I kinda liked that post, like it seems to me that d&w got more info about chaqa and reevaluated. What about it is so mafia-esque?foodcoats wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 3:57 pmScum playing too scummy to be scum?Diplomacy&Warfare wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 11:41 amHi. In other news I'm going to take my vote off Chaqa because my evidence turned out to be a joke.

I would prefer to see a deeper impression anyone has on King, dip, and ND if anyone is particularly inclined
Re: Mafia 87: Madness in Mega-City One - GAME THREAD
ND especially seems to be some continuation of some protest some last game, which makes it difficult for me to interpret beyond that he's being deliberately obtuse

Man, I was briefly tempted to actually go back and try to convince you why Dip is scum. But first, I can't ISO them and I also really don't want to waste more time on a lost cause of a game.Kakarroto wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 6:33 pmI kinda liked that post, like it seems to me that d&w got more info about chaqa and reevaluated. I think Dip is Mafia because their play so far aligns with how I've seen them play as Mafia previously. I think I've seen a couple of posts that were unhelpful sheeping, and a couple posts that look like a lot of "work" but are largely pointless.
What's so impressive about this post? They just acknowledge all the people telling them that Chaqa was joking. Pretty sure they could have just moved onto their next suspect, which I'm pretty sure they've already expressed a strong desire on one or maybe two people, instead of just moving to No-Kill.
