Definitely an interesting possibility…
Would Angel!Balki have scum motivation for cop hypoing? I am too braindead from travel to figure it out at the moment.

The Angel's need to control the game and using town to acquire information is helpful to them. If people's fake scans are on an Angel then they can use that information to help them sort who could potentially be real PRs.
Of course there are some variables but still that is how I see it.
This is not correct. Because each Hypo claim is generic (not specific to any kind of Cop), the Angels will not know which scans are real and which are hypothetical. This is the advantage of the fact that we have many kinds of Cops and nobody will know what kind of Cop any scan came from until that Cop flips. Even the Cop him or herself (in most cases) won’t know until after they flip.
No. Angel's will see the "target". If the "target" is an Angel, then they will gain some info.
Well, they can rule out some hypo scans from being some kinds of cops, I suppose. But they won’t be able to conclusively rule anyone out of being Cop.
(Note: This is only true if, according to #ghugcorollary some real scans on Angels come back True and some come out False, depending on kind of Cop. Need to make sure of that. But if that is the case, Angels won’t be able to rule anyone out of being Cop)

*Note that the Addictive Cop, Macho Cop, and Naïve Cop all receive a generic Cop PM, which gives their role info as:

I'm not saying it's a bad plan for town, just that it is helpful to Angel's as well.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 12:07 amWell, they can rule out some hypo scans from being some kinds of cops, I suppose. I am considering joining it, but not happy about it.

People are sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Re: Mafia 87: Madness in Mega-City One - GAME THREAD
I actually kind of thought this, too.Chaqa wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 9:28 pmFirst really solid post I’ve seen.Diplomacy&Warfare wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 9:17 pmI am just going to point out that the ghugcorollary is bad because scanning someone as innocent (ie normal cop) and sharing the "true" result looks the same as, for example, being the psychic cop and reading a Dark Judge.
For reference the ghugcorollary is:
Addictive Cop - INNOCENT=TRUE, GUILTY=FALSE
Macho Cop - INNOCENT=TRUE, GUILTY=FALSE
Naive Cop - INNOCENT=TRUE, GUILTY=FALSE
Methodical Cop - INNOCENT=TRUE, GUILTY=FALSE
Parity Cop - Same=TRUE, different=FALSE, no result=FALSE
Vanilla Cop - Vanilla=TRUE, Not vanilla=FALSE
SJS Cop - Cop=TRUE, Not cop=FALSE
Psychic Cop - Dark=TRUE, not dark=FALSE
Presumably after EoN everyone shares what they hypothetically scanned, with vanilla town... actually we don't know. Maybe they flip a coin, maybe they always report True or always report False.
Here is my version of Balki's plan, with modifications:
Everyone says, before EoN, "If I hypothetically were a cop, I would scan X".
Cops say who they are going to scan. This includes Methodical Cop, unless they know their target can't be Judge Fear (see below), in which case they claim to be scanning someone they would scan if they were a generic cop.
IF docs know their target can't be Judge Fear (ie, we have identified the target as a different role with confirmation, we know who Judge Fear is for certain and it is not the target, Judge Fear is dead, we have confirmed that Judge Fear is not in the game), then the docs say they are targeting the person that they would if they were a cop.
If the target might possibly be Judge Fear, which currently applies to everyone, the docs say they are scanning whoever they are saving.
Town claim they are scanning whoever they would scan if they were a cop
Then, after EoN, everyone reports their results as follows:
"normal" cop, addictive cop, macho cop, naive cop, methodical cop: Whatever (innocent/guilty) you received
SJS: Dark = Guilty, Not Dark = Innocent
Parity Cop: Use your discretion. Lean towards "INNOCENT" unless you are certain of the previous night-target's team. Imply your findings in normal posts.
Vanilla Cop: Use your discretion. Lean towards "Innocent" for Vanilla. If the target claims to be a cop and your scan returned "not vanilla", claim "Guilty".
Doctor: Use your discretion. Lean towards Innocent.
Vanilla Town: Use your discretion. Lean towards Innocent.
It's a lot, but the point is that instead of ambiguous "True/False", we have "Innocent", which indicates the target is probably town, and "Guilty" which indicates the target is probably scum. We would need someone to keep track of the hypothetical scans as well as the hypothetical results.
He’s probably scum

King is playing exactly how I sort of played in M83. Idk, maybe a bit of sympathy for his situation. But he seems to be trying to do good.

Balki, why did you join this particular game? Was the setup exciting? You happened to have a chunk of free time and decided it would be fun to play Mafia? Etc.?

I still feel good about my Damo vote. How do other people feel about Damo and why?

Yeah but that's sweet.
But maybe that's also snowy...
To be honest as I've read more I don't feel so scum!snowy. I still think damo seemed a bit weird. But then sometimes I don't quite get humour over the forum and it could've been jokiness. Vibes though...

Do both non-town factions have that open chat before actual game start?

Re: Mafia 87: Madness in Mega-City One - GAME THREAD
another dinner, another missed discussion. looks like people are piling on top of damo now? I'm far to tired to scroll back through everything today, if anyone would be so kind as to give TL;DR, that would be appreciated. hopefully there aren't any new revelations over tonight that I have to catch up on again...
