Okay, let's talk about something else.
I still feel good about my Damo vote. How do other people feel about Damo and why?

It's not because he is generally leading mech talk. It's just that he has had at least one unprovoked mech post that is particularly anti-Judge. Given that he had already led the mech talk and formulated a plan, it seems unlikely Judge Balki would suddenly provide a particularly anti-Judge idea.JustAGuyNamedWill wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:06 pmI saw your ‘Balki isn’t a judge post’. I disagree. The mech talk will inevitably come up, it doesn’t matter who brings it up. I think mech talk is NAIsweetandcool wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:04 pmIf that's true, shouldn't we keep him in game? If Angel Balki is doing a fabulous job sussing out the Judge team, shouldn't we keep him around? I think we make a mental note about Balki and move on to a better D1 vote.JustAGuyNamedWill wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 10:58 pmI meant that you seem to be solving in some capacity, and I believe that you are scum trying to figure out the other team. So I want to kill you right now so that you can’t share what you’ve learned in your night chat
Since Balki is unlikely to be a Judge, I think he is okay to leave around.
And everyone is trying to solve this game. I just think that Balki is scum trying to solve.
Any of the other teammates he has can also help us solve.

Damo D1 MK would make me incredibly unhappy. Make a mental note and move onto someone else for the DK please.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:08 pmOkay, let's talk about something else.

Will, mech talk is generally NAI. However, you need to take into account that there are three teams.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:10 pmIt's not because he is generally leading mech talk. I definitely don't want to make you incredibly unhappy. Forgive me for asking the obvious question, but why would it make you incredibly unhappy?sweetandcool wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:11 pmDamo D1 MK would make me incredibly unhappy. Similar to how I tend not to perform well on weekends, damo tends to warm up after D1. And he has been especially picked on recently. So D1 him is sad.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:13 pmI definitely don't want to make you incredibly unhappy. If you got a scum read on him just save it for D2. I'm sure there are other players you could happily vote too.

Well, that defense doesn't move me. I'd be happy to be persuaded that someone else is more likely to flip scum. Or, if you have something AI to say about Damo, I'd like to hear that.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:16 pmSimilar to how I tend not to perform well on weekends, damo tends to warm up after D1. Re: Mafia 87: Madness in Mega-City One - GAME THREAD
I've taken a look at the current votes, and it seems that 2 people are currently 'leading' in terms of people voting for them; damo and ND. I've seen the argument regarding damo, but may I ask the reason so many people (relatively speaking) are voting ND? perhaps this is my experience, but so far I can't see they have done anything particularly bad, outside of an admittedly annoying bit. I haven't seen any of the vote posts put actual reasons too. this is not a defense by any means, I'm just curious as to the reasoning.

Most D1 votes are essentially unconvicted jokes. Votes can easily change rapidly D1. I don't think ND is in legitimate danger, yet.kingofthepirates wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:25 pmI've taken a look at the current votes, and it seems that 2 people are currently 'leading' in terms of people voting for them; damo and ND. Re: Mafia 87: Madness in Mega-City One - GAME THREAD
I dont care about the electing a mayor thing. there are 8 players who havent even voted so we lack alot of data for where people are leaning. The purpose behind controlling the voting wagons is a matter of pretty severe numbers. If we give an extra nightkill out every day, town gets outnumbered really fast.brainbomb wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 5:20 pm[quote="Balki Bartokomous" post_id=390316 time=1712074235 user_id=922
My comment was in response to ideas like elect a mayor or enforce some kinds of manufactured vote one our before deadline. I don’t think those efforts are going to be productive, especially this early, and I want real vote decisions that cannot be explained away by “but you guys told me to do X.”
If someones top scumread is a (1) wagon, as the day wanes on, the player on a (1) wagon should understand the consequences of throwing caution to the wind, going solo and potentially weaponizing a mafia team to get a kill. If this is something we can just avoid by "articulating" why we scumread someone, and then campaign for someone to be the kill, so much of this can be alleviated. There is not alot of free miskills, and you could have 70 cops, and they wont mean shit if the game is tied 7-7 for example.
2 miskills and 2 nightkills basically renders the town in a kingmaker situation.
If this can be avoided, by playing the game, voting, and knowing when to concede a wagon simply is not going to happen, then there is a pretty strong reason to consolidate, and vote for your second best read, or third best read.
Does this make sense?

I paused at this post because I started thinking that both Balki and brain were likely town for delving into pro-town mechs in this way. Then I started wondering if there were reasons that either scum faction would want to leverage these kinds of mechs as a way to seem townie while still benefitting their faction. But based on my read of the scum teams, there is not really any benefit to them for any of the approaches suggested by either Balki or brain. This is leaning heavily on what I took away from Mad Monarch's role madness game, but I think that the more mechanics there are, the more opportunities there are for town to dig in its filthy claws and try to crack the game from their lack-of-knowledge position, and that scum teams will naturally want to avoid going too hard on any such idea of mechanical solving because it is probably bad for them. This would also make sense because the Judge team in particular can do a lot of killing and both scum teams got a pre-game window for scum chat, presumably so they could discuss their strategies, because the mechanistic nature of the game is antithetical to their fundamental nature.
TL;DR I think both brain and Balki are likely to be town.
Re: Mafia 87: Madness in Mega-City One - GAME THREAD
Oh, and snowy's rejection of mechanistic solving is also why he is scum with damo. Ching ching.
