Obviously this is not damning, but I think it is pretty compelling. Anyone who posted in the first hour who lives in the Western Hemisphere should be considered suspicious.
But i saw the game thread open after i submitted orders

How can you be sure that it was because of mafia chat for me and the others (not including brain)

If you are basing a case against me around me knowing when the game started I can sincerely say I did not get a notice of a start time from some other chat or app or message. Just google and this game thread.
What can I say? I'm survivin'

I copy pasted the line where he said 10pm BST and put it into google while I was working today. Had no idea wtf BST was in my time and google said 4pm central.
That is most likely a lie

The first mention of game start time was also accompanied by a Pacific Time, which was 3pm

A reasonable explanation. And I'm sorry for suspecting you for such a silly reason.

The problem is, human nature. I think (and could be wrong), that most people would have verified the start day and time during signups. You would have seen all three times posted in the same sentence. I think it is extremely unlikely you would Google BST, when EST is listed and you could just subtract an hour. You would have seen that it starts at 5:00, and then you would have mentally told yourself it starts at the usual time.

At least, this is what I think most likely.

I was here when the game started. I am in PT. I think this is a waste of time.

I think there was an indication of when the game started in terms of X hours until game begins. I think there were actually a few of these.

Hmmm is mafia-Hamilton not reading because he is disinterested in being mafia again?
Read my post in the signup thread from yesterday. Pretty much lays out my attention and focus for this game.

You are correct, which is why this is not ironclad by any means. But I think most people would mentally shrug off those mentions since they would already know the game starts at the normal time, 3 PST (except it didn't).

Hmmmmm...I forgot that we can talk at night.

Thinking...yes, I think that is a good addition to this plan.

Why are you opposed?
I'm not overly fond of chopping a game into a mechanical grind
I feel like game types like item madness or something like this is best played in chaos, even understanding that one may well argue that it is "unoptimal" to do so
Okay, I can grok that as a general tendency, but can you give some more specific thought to the plan I proposed in this format? My feeling is that the multi-cop set-up here is uniquely suited for this particular plan because we're not really going to be able to use cop reveals very well until the cop flips. So cops are likely going to want to breadcrumb their results so that we have their info to use after they flip. By forcing everyone to provide hypo results, we allow our Cops to put that info in the thread without risk of laying breadcrumbs that can lead back to them. Also, because of all the Cop distortions, the bad guys are not going to be able to use all of the hypo posts to figure out who is a real cop and who is not a real cop.

So, I just think this plan requires more thought than "I don't like doing stuff with mechanics." I am not proposing that we use the hypo scan plan as the sole way of playing the game. We need to talk to each other and sort wolves from town. Adding a hypo scan is not a substitute for playing the game, it's just a useful way of ensuring the cop information is here in the thread for us when it becomes more useful.
Remind me to do this tomorrow and I shall (probably) elaborate

The first post stating the time had both the British time zone AND the pacific time zone

So why did he check the british time zone for verification

Been busy, but not bad at all
I was drawn in by a roster call to fill for lack of players, and I feel like this state changed over the long weeks of delay but I wasn't paying attention so stayed signed on anyway gg

MAFIA 87 - Madness in Mega-City One

General Game Information:
GM: Jamiet99uk
Game Start: 01 April 2024 @ 10pm BST
Phase Lengths: 48h Day, 24h Night
Phase Shift Time: 10pm BST

INTRODUCTION

Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to be the last faction standing. The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game.

The standard WebDiplomacy Mafia rules apply and can be found here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1317yTgrMyXoCIJBoNK6_-oR__qDXB-HyI2ragf83yiE/edit?pli=1#heading=h.b5s05kv8seyu

VOTING

There are two types of voting within this game: collective voting to execute perceived Mafia in Day phases, and collective voting to end a Day or Night phase.

“Daykill” vote: The first level of voting is for whom you intend to kill. Notate this vote with a pair of hash symbols before your intended vote target. (e.g., ##VOTE BOFA) You do not need to spell out your intended target's username fully; as long as the GM can understand who you're referencing. In the event of a tie during an execution vote, no one shall be killed.

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not use double hashtags your vote will not be counted.

Must Vote: At the end of the Day phase, all participating players must have their vote on a candidate. You may ##VOTE and then ##UNVOTE if you change your mind as the Day progresses, however you may not end the phase with an ##UNVOTE in place. Anyone violating this rule will be modkilled unless there are very extenuating circumstances, determined solely by the GM. Ending the day with a vote on “##No Kill” or "##vote No Kill" is permitted.

Hammer Vote: The second level of voting is whether or not to employ the hammer mechanic. By default, days are set to 48 hours long, and nights to 24 hours long; however, players may instead elect to activate the hammer mechanic. Notate this vote with a pair of hashes before the word end. (EX: ##END). The day will end as soon as a majority of players are voting to endhammer the same player. If you are not able to vote before the hammer is dropped, you will not be penalized for failing to vote during that day. Night phases may not normally be hammered - any exception to this will be announced by the GM.
Wait nevermind the time is up there

I thought he was talking abt the message in signup thread that he read

(and everyone else! I'm not going to write a whole bunch of "so good to see you again" posts because there are too many people that it is good to see again. But please know that it is good to see you again.*)
