I don’t think it was ever established that they are most/primarily famous for writing, only famous for writing.Spartaculous wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:18 pmNo questions or guesses in this post.
We are looking for someone who is most famous for writing, but not writing fiction, and we are warned that the "writer" tag is a bit misleading. My thought is that we are looking for a writer of nonfiction: say, a famous historian born in Russia or Ukraine.
Any thoughts?

True. Having this person be most famous for writing is part of my working assumptions right now; I'm rather lost without the assumption.Aristocrat wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:22 pmI don’t think it was ever established that they are most/primarily famous for writing, only famous for writing.Spartaculous wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:18 pmNo questions or guesses in this post.

That's the twentieth question. I'd advise you to think very carefully about the five non-free guesses, because you still don't know what he was best known for.

(I had been going to say Evgeny Pogozhev but he was also known for his journalistic work as well as his religious works so it cannot be him).

No - although it couldn't be him in any case, Filosofov was born too early.
