This seems likely to be a wasted question, since we know they're a native speaker of Latin/Romance, but but not born in the Roman state. Can you think if someone born before 100 who fits that?

Nice! My degree is in Political Science, and we read "The Prince" as part of our political philosophy course. Macchiavelli gets a bum rap from those who say he was an immoral schemer. He was not talking about what politicians should do ethically; he was talking about what effective politicians do do.
