Over the course of their deliberations, one Society member had come up again and again. Did you see them do this? Do you remember when they did that? Despite the accused’s protests, they could not quieten the savoury suspicions of the Society.

But the accused would not go down easily. Realizing words were not enough, the suspect disappeared for a few hours… to return with a beautiful chocolate souffle.

“Ha, ha! Taste that, friends, and you will know my real pedigree.”

The members of the Society for the Appreciation of Sugary Confections could not resist a fresh dessert. But as they dug into the souffle, they begin to hack and spit.

“This is awful!”

“Are you mad?”

“Are you trying to poison us?”

Aghast, the erstwhile baker took a taste of their own concoction - and their face froze with horror.

“I mixed up the amounts for salt and sugar,” they said. “It was an honest mistake! I was stressed out! I was just trying-“

But the Society had not the ears to listen. Screaming like custard-loving banshees, they dragged the souffle maker to the chocolate fountain and shoved them into the sweet flow. The failed baker thrashed, writhed, sending drops of chocolate everywhere as they were drowned in milk and cocoa, and at last was still.

Everyone was covered in chocolate that had sprayed from the fountain during the struggle. Someone could not help but take a taste. “It’s still pretty good, actually.”
