Thanks, Chaqa. I will amend the setup.Chaqa wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 2:32 amI left a few notes.foodcoats wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 10:59 pmThanks darg.dargorygel wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 7:07 pmI'm about to build the bot... any more joiners can still do so, I will wait to push 'start' till tomorrow. But the bot MIGHT NOT start just when the game does. Busy day tomorrow!
A note for everyone, we will be using the standard 48/24 day/night cycles.
For the sake of rules clarity, here is my interpretation and extension of Chaqa’s rules for Consensus Mafia. This will be in the game thread but I wanted to post it in advance in case there are questions or if Chaqa wants to weigh in.
-Every night, any member of town MAY submit a “PR Action Vote” designating “PR should target PLAYER” (e.g. "Cop should target foodcoats"). (This vote is optional.)
- These were absolutely intended to be required, not optional.
-PRs can “self-vote” for their own action.
-The PRs will target the player with the majority of the votes.
-If there are no votes for one of the PR’s actions, that PR will NOT act.
-If there is a tie for the PR’s action target, the tie will be broken by 1) the PR’s self-vote or 2) randomly among the tied targets.
- This is fine.
-The Cop will receive a result of “You investigated PLAYER. They are ALIGNMENT.”
-The Doctor will receive a result of “You visited PLAYER. You SUCCEEDED/FAILED to save them.”
- I think I would say "They did not require your attention" or "They did require your attention" with the latter being only if a kill is prevented
-A player who was saved by the doctor will receive the message “You were saved by the Doctor.”
-Each night, the Mafia team MAY choose to change the TARGET of ONE town player's PR Action Vote, but NOT the choice of cop vs. doc (e.g., "change sweetandcool's target to foodcoats”).
-Each night, the Mafia team MAY guess the target of the cop scan OR the target of the doc save. If the Mafia team guesses correctly, the result of the cop scan will be inverted (e.g., if foodcoats is town and is scanned by the cop, the cop would receive a result of "You investigated foodcoats. They are MAFIA."), or the doctor protection would be canceled (e.g. the doctor would receive a "You visited sweetandcool. You FAILED to save them" and sweetandcool would not be protected from the nightkill).
-The mafia will NOT learn from the GM if they guessed the PR target correctly.

Having thought over what I think ghug is thinking, I still agree with you, and I also defer to your infinity more experience as a GM than I.

Re: M1028: Consensus Mini-Mafia
I am really confused about exactly what the Mafia's first power is and how it interacts with the voting.
Are PR votes publicly visible?
Can you only vote for the target of docsave or the target of copscan, not both?
Can the first Mafia ability be described as follows, or am I misinterpreting something?
Each night, the mafia team may choose to change who one player votes for as the target of a role, but may not change which role that player votes for the target of?

The GM can correct me if I am mistaken, but this is what I believe to be the answers to your questions:Diplomacy&Warfare wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 3:19 amI am really confused about exactly what the Mafia's first power is and how it interacts with the voting.

1. PR target votes are sent via PM to the GM (foodcoats) and the Co-GM (sweetandcool). Every TOWN player MUST submit a vote before the end of each night. Consequently these are not public.
2. You can only submit one vote. Consequently you must choose between directing the copscan or the docsave.
3. I believe your description of the Mafia's vote redirection power is correct.
Re: M1028: Consensus Mini-Mafia
I don't know that there's necessarily a town mechanical solve, but grouping the player list into thirds and having them vote for competing targets for a couple nights is going to give enough information that people will be more focused on using it than on traditional solving. There might be something better, too.foodcoats wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 2:18 amI'm not sure how there's a town mechanical solve in the current setup. Can you give an example?ghug wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 12:35 amAs in, instead of the redirect, to complicate solving the alignment indication of the vote, just make it not alignment-indicative at all. Town still has a lot of PRs, so I don't think it makes anything too mafia-sided, and it removes the part of the game where people try to solve mechanically.
Note that there is no formal review for minis, so I'm speaking as a player, not a member of the Kouncil.

I don’t want to go too deep into my thoughts because I don’t want to give any players ideas… but I think the current setup is fine. If town breaks it, it will be a learning opportunity for future GMs.ghug wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 8:08 amI don't know that there's necessarily a town mechanical solve, but grouping the player list into thirds and having them vote for competing targets for a couple nights is going to give enough information that people will be more focused on using it than on traditional solving. Re: M1028: Consensus Mini-Mafia
This is largely a trial run for a full-fledged Consensus setup with more mechanics, so I think Food is rightfoodcoats wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 12:50 pmI don’t want to go too deep into my thoughts because I don’t want to give any players ideas… but I think the current setup is fine.
