If I, as mafia, did in fact think Bunny was doc, I would not do anything and just let him die.

Yes, it might have been a mistake by being to obvious an attempt at drawing the NK and narrowing the doctor pool, but the fact that it was not likely to be overlooked argues against your good mafia play idea.

It could work as WIFOM. Saying everyone else was not the doctor made it look like you were doing something. The only reason I could see doing it as mafia would be to prepare to CC the doctor, though.

I think it was a spite vote. It isn't the first time I've seen scum do that. In the situation I've seen it before, the scum player replaced into a scum slot D2 or D3, afked mostly and trolled a little bit, got voted out in a flash wagon and threw their vote on me at the last second. The scum slot was getting bussed then too lol. Also, that town later on like D5 or so used that vote as a lolreason why I was "scummy." Lots of similarities to here.
