That's mostly right; my gut reaction is that you're wrong town, not evil scum trying to misflip me.Vecna wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 11:17 amI have taken note that you instantly assume that my attack comes from a silly, outdated frame of reference, as opposed to a scummy one.
You attribute stupidity instead of malice.
While that is the wise course of action, im not sure it is the course of action of someone looking for scum.
It instantly feels like you know you need to enter defensive mode, because you cannot argue my virtue.

Maybe we should make a song out of it. When I see something interesting, I usually have to go make a song about it. Here is a song about something interesting.

Congratulations Brainbomb. And also godspeed on the coming journey. Im sure itll be difficult at times, but I have full confidence youre going to be an amazing dad to Daniel.brainbomb wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 11:19 pmOkay now that I am here and have invaded your minds with ms rachel Time for some news.
I have a baby son, he was born wed. His name is daniel. He is still in the NICU at the hospital.
I do not need special treatment.
I do not need to be viewed as town simply because I have a personal issue out of game.
It may take away some of my time to play
You are free to scumread me if you think im away more than is reasonable.
My concern is my son is on oxygen and we want to get him home soon. His life is not in danger. He is getting better. I will also add that he was born with Down Syndrome. We expected that, but we were never totally sure if it would happen.
I appreciate being able to play mafia here, it is a nice distraction. Do not, under any circumstance give me special treatment. I chose to sign up to play and I plan to have a heck of a good time, on my own terms. I may not post much else this evening so, that was my shitposting phase. Ill be hunting, and watching for the dirty little scummies to come along.

Re: Mafia 86: Accidents Happen... - Game Thread
So the city I live in has a historic downtown from the 1700s that is soon to be a World Heritage site. There is a massive, ugly parking garage next to it that is currently being demolished due to it being 50 years old and falling apart. The city has been working to replace it so that we only miss one Christmas season (big part of the local economy, we're called "The Christmas City")
As part of this, the Historical Architecture Review Board was consulted, and they basically have been rejecting any proposal that is not rebuilding the garage exactly as before. This is ostensibly because of historic reasons, but many of us and the majority of the City Council rightly argue that no parking garage can be historic, and that the HARB is acting in bad faith as they did not provide any comments on anything except "we will only accept a garage on the same footprint rebuilt in kind"
They are hyper focused on the fact that the old garage, which is literally a block large (back in the 70s it displaced 40 low income homes to be built, but HARB didnt bitch then, did they - wonder why?), will be smaller and taller by a few feet, and that a portion of the old site may be used for some other purpose. As such, the plan is to subdivide the lot and leave the other bit empty. In the mocks, the designers simply put a white box placeholder, which all of us with non-lead poisoned brains understood to be just that.
There's been literally dozens of hours of informative presentations on this, yet these NIMBYs are saying the process hasn't been transparent and have been basically conspiratorial in their beliefs that there's (to quote a fellow resident) "a secret cabal of city officials trying to sneak something nefarious into the white box"
This has been probably the biggest drama in the city in awhile, with a bunch of people carrying signs saying "Support HARB". Not to be crass, but every single one of these people is over the age of 50. They cry about the city's future while actively trying to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Haha no but I'm involved with urbanist and cycling advocacy. I might run in 2026 or 2028 to unseat one of the two more obstructive councilors, but who knows.

"The main reason I think they are more likely both scum is that Chaqa’s defense and following play after that fight do not at all appear to be townie"foodcoats wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 11:47 amThe main reason I think they are more likely both scum is that Chaqa’s defense and following play after that fight do not at all appear to be townie, nor is it remotely reasonable to think Chaqa is unable to launch an ATE or threaten to sub out as scum. Brain even highlighted it himself: Chaqa has a very wide range. However, the “meta key” that is most interesting to me isn’t “scum!Chaqa could do this,” it’s “town!brain knows scum!Chaqa could do this, but brain accepted the ATE and has not launched a follow-up attack regarding Chaqa’s fading from the thread once the ATE was accepted.” This is an unusual tack from brain.
And now that I’ve written it out, I see how on balance brain is more likely than Chaqa to be scum in that scenario.
Well, the reason I voted for Chaqa is because I like to see bigger wagons competing earlier in the game, and there are several people who seemed willing to vote Chaqa, whereas a brain wagon doesn’t seem likely at this time. But since you’ve corrected my thinking, I will:
##VOTE brainbomb
Could you explain why you feel that?
And what is an ATE?

I don't think I was considering you as scum. I thought I was responding to what Will's wall was; I think they're playing differently and not in a good way. Not you.foodcoats wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 11:52 amThank you for clarifying you think I’m scum. What is your point about Will? Are you saying he’s playing badly? I think Will's had a couple of really good games recently so this seems like a reversion.

Anyway, I do have a bit of time this morning. I'll do as quick of a read through as I can and not get in trouble with the IT crowd at our board. I'll be missing context but...it's D1.

That's correct, yeah. I cannot stress how unreasonable they've been. And the severe lack of decorum from them at the meetings. Applauding stupid soundbites made by people, meandering 10 minute speeches that don't have a point.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 1:58 pmIs it this ugly thing?Chaqa wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 1:50 pm

Yeah, that is not a historic building and it does not need to be preserved. Wow.
One lady literally spent two separate 5 minute experiences telling a story about her not being able to drive her loved one to the hospital, and that somehow the parking garage was the fault of it, and if we didn't rebuild it people would die.
She never once said how this relates to the parking garage except that "there was bad traffic and both bridges were backed up" but like... there's multiple hospitals on the north side of the river too.

Oh, well food just doesn't know me. That's fair.
@food I would not manipulate someone in that way. I think several people here can attest to that. There was an incident with Flum a few years ago that was very unpleasant where I was on the receiving end of an "ATE"
