My home in Idaho at least is less than that, but yeah my rent in Seattle during 2009-2011 was $1500/month for 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment…

I don't think I could afford living in the USsweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:11 pmRegardless, want to swap places? I'd love to experience the joys of living in Wien. Especially if my family can fit too.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:10 pmAh, but are you taking into account currency conversion?
And what size of place do you rent? I think around here you can find a studio apartment for $600-800, though tending towards $800.

It was a weak enough case that of course it wasn't convincing.worcej wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:15 pmFWIW, yes he did get me but I still feel the reason was bullshit lolsweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:15 pmAnd you properly scumread worcej and Jamiet. Congrats!
But before he made it, I felt similarly. Like, I didn't think you were scum, but I was slightly leaning that way.
But like I said before, I can't really read you. I thought it was entirely plausible town Worcej was in play.

yeah idk the bay area in general is rough for rent, and there just isn't enough affordable housing and some of the suburbs don't want to build up

Holy moly, if I'm understanding this right, your place is about the same size as mine. I do have a giant back yard though.Kakarroto wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:16 pmok, size could be different. about 120m² (not including the veranda and the terrace) for 450€. Which should be around 500 $ I guess.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:10 pmAh, but are you taking into account currency conversion?

East coast rent is absurd now too.

Re: Mafia 85: Return from Lockdown
I enjoyed playing here! I agree the setup was unbalanced but it was a great concept and should be improved rather than discarded. Two ideas other than going the semi-open route is to keep it an open setup but not reveal the roles after player death. Those kinds of setups can be fun and allow for "mortician" type roles. A second idea which is similar is to not be flip-less by default but incorporate a "janitor" type role for the scum team which targets a player at night and blocks town from seeing the role flip if they die, while the janitor is informed what role the killed player was.
I think making this setup semi-open would also work really well!
If the community here is looking for setups that require lots of scum hunting and can't be solved mechanically then those are setups I have experience designing and collaborating with balance teams on. I have two variations of a closed 17p (13 town 4 scum) I designed that never got played. It's interesting that night chat is enabled by default here and that would work really well with this setup. If there is anyone who is interested in moderating a game but doesn't want to design it then please PM me and see if you like the setup.

Re: Mafia 85: Return from Lockdown
social housing in Vienna is big (AND good), so there are many private areas that don't go too high because of that. Free market when it has to compete with social governments and stuff.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:24 pmHoly moly, if I'm understanding this right, your place is about the same size as mine. There are of course high price areas that are huge in price, but I'm not near them. Wouldn't need to with the public transport here. Don't even own a car anymore because it's just so expensive. And for the few trips when I really need it, there are rental cars.
Don't have a back yard, since I'm on the first floor (which would be the second floor for you, I believe? One level about the ground floor). But there is an 'inner area' that is shared with all around and has trees, bushes, some wooden benches and such stuff.
Though I have to say, only water and heating is included in the price, electricity is extra.

I took a 1 year self-requested ban on MafiaUniverse because I played too much lol. That was a few months ago. I noticed the signups for this game randomly while playing diplomacy and I joined immediately.

Well then, now it's time to marry and win a war. And finish the building I started, I guess.

I live in one of the most expensive areas of PA. Rents are worse here than in Philly. Luckily I have a house, but the prices are crazy. Two blocks up my street are two bedroom, 1200 sq.ft. apartments going for like $2200/month
