So currently Bob, Chaqa and lfischl are vocally opposed to trying to coordinate our roles to get information because it “isn’t fun.” I find that really strange… maybe I’m just a competitive person? Do most of you not care about trying to win? Why play?
I care about trying to win, I just think that if the town coordinates every single move we will have the game solved within 2-3 days, then we'll just sit there until the scum are all dead
...so it sounds like we're coordinating moves then. Good.

I think any role madness game is probably flawed, and I've run a lot of them. But tbh I just don't think it's fun to just play logic puzzle with who said who and what result. It sounds tedious and like one or two people get to figure it all out and the rest of us just have to go along with it.
Okay, so what things are fun in Mafia for you?
I'm very much a fan of the theorizing back and forth debates. I don't care much for reading essays. I want a more natural dialogue.

I do also like mechs, I just don't think we should be lost in them, and I don't really like any "adhere or be anti-town" nonsense
Do you think that if we claim our results there is no room for theorizing and debate? Nevermind the influence of scum! I think this is much less of an Excel formula than you think it is.

I understand why you would not like “adhere or be anti-town.”

Let’s say we put aside the idea of a prescriptive targeting. Are you opposed to claiming your target and return in the morning?

Food, what is your avatar? It looks familiar but not
It is from the Haas-Bioroid card “Biotic Labor” from the game Android: Netrunner.

how's the game chage if we all know our roles? is it over?
Everyone will have claimed a role and then we just have to go through the CCs.
Oh, hold on Chaqa. You may not understand the setup. We don’t know our roles and we will get results that are identical to other roles. There are roles that can read like various other roles depending on the target. So it is not just claim/counterclaim.

Does that change your opinion at all?
Bunny was asking how the game would change if we know our roles. I assumed as a logical followup to the plan you want where:
1. We all pick a predetermined person
2. Collect results and cross-reference
3. Assign roles to people

This scumtell stuff is going to look really silly when I flip.

I'm not voting fisch because I really don't understand the case against them either way.

In fact, I'm a better flip because of this scum tell nonsense. It's never going away so I'm a guaranteed MK at some point.
Tell me abouh last game. What'd yo uthink of your play?
Last game was wretched by all metrics. The only clever thing I did well is roleplay as the Investigator, and that didn't end up working.

This game I am pleased because I've been avoiding getting angry and being unpleasant. Definitely the worst thing about last game.

No. I expect lots of people to do so. I might. I haven't really given it any thought yet.

@damo:

Still catching up. Putting kids to bed. Upshot is 3 concerns:

1) scum will have game solved much faster and know powers to target before we benefit

2) if scum have influence over choice of order they can manipulate things

So I don’t mind the plan so much but would like to add some crypto:

1) use math so nobody chooses the order
2) when you announce your results:

If you got fail, then announce
Otherwise announce both your real result and a result you cannot possibly get. So if you die, we know your real result.

This allows town to solve, while hiding from scum who is who.

Modifications likely good, but the idea of encrypting results is important.
This seems fun. My favorite suggestion so far

OH! DRunk Bunny (TM) does BALLADS! THat's the point...Ballads and intuition.

I'll be honest...Dumb Bunny(TM) has been focusing more on intuiton. But I still need the ballads...

I nominate this for a flash wagon. Of the existing top wagons I'd vote sweetandcool. I'm with family and trying to get a hang of the bot on my phone.
why did froggy wana flash us?

and someune darnk my tequla
Good point actually. If I'm town, what would be the scum motivation for Frog to do this?

And if I'm scum buddies with him, then the answer is obvious.

Huh, I guess I'm going to have to Town Frog.

Though given his play, there is a chance he is just an incredibly good Mafia player.

Oh, right, I missed the context a bit.

And yes, that would be the plan. I haven’t run through scenarios, but I assume it will not be so easy to assign roles immediately, based on the kind of returns we get (and my assumption that the Council, as well as experienced players like yourself, would’ve raised warnings when the game was being set up). But I think it would allow us to form buckets for analysis and debate - which I know you like to do! ;)

For now,
##vote Bob McBob

At this early stage (and unfortunate disclaimer that I’m not fully caught up) what stands out to me the most is how many different conversations/arguments revolved around lfischl due to what was for me, at the time, not a whole lot to go on (granted idrk him but I think we were mafia togeth when I played a year ago).

I find Bob McBob and Just McWill’s inconsistency in their early reads re lfischl to be kinda eyebrow raising but I feel more comfortable casting a vote for Bob since I think I’ll have an easing time reading Just further down the line.
This isn't great..
What don't you like?
