I do not townread Lfischl and did not claim that I did. Therefore there is no such explanation for me to post. I am not trying to defend Lfischl. I was asking you a fairly basic question about why you scumread him, so that we could discuss your case, to help me decide whether I ought to vote him with you. That's not the same as saying I think he's locktown or something. I asked a really quite simple question. This is how I play the game. I think that is normal.

I have a really hard time understanding how Jamie can waste several pages arguing with me about my read on lfischl being “an act” and go off on me and change the subject repeatedly to focus on me being scatterbrained only to come back full circle and say “I scumread lfischl and I just wanted to see your reasons to maybe join you voting him”

no its part of his game as both alignments is that if he doesnt make you waste tons of time arguing nuances with him or pedantry - then he will get accused of being too off this game. so he does it as scum to look like his town game and he does it as town because he gets caught up in dead end topics and thinks he needs to just keep fighting with people

im leaning jamie scum for some of his other weird insistent stances that this game has no VTs for example. where is pretty obvious that on day 1; no one is actually arguing there are vts; rather everyone is effectively equal and a vt in having a lack of knowledge about role. He seems to just keep wanting to focus on that no one is vanilla rather than seeing the game as “were all just the same today and we have no reason to think otherwise until more days pass”

I can't tell if you're asking me about my scum range or how experienced I am with the game in general. My scum range isn't impressive, I don't like lying to people, I'm good at cop hunting though. I played live chat mafia a lot, maybe like a thousand hours or so, way too much and mostly in high school. I've played a bunch of forum mafia games too but not to the same magnitude as live chat.

If you asked a random sample of 100 people the question "What colours are the two sides in a game of chess?" I think that the majority of people would give an answer mentioning white and black. Don't you?

This setup is interesting in terms of D1 because nobody knows anything except:

i) Their alignment, and
ii) IF their alignment is Mafia, the identities of their team-mates.

So it's essentially a pure vanilla D1.

Pointing out that this list appears to only include town roles. Also, I'd argue that there isn't really a distinction between "targets target" and "specific person" since I think in both cases you just get a name back. I thought this was a classic TvT thing at first until I considered the bolded part.

I could argue scum!heart had like an adrenaline rush when the game started and that carried them through the early banter and then they kind of ran out of steam.

hmm, the first two quoted posts I would sort as jokes, or rather, I deemed them being jokes when I first read them. I mean, it could be pocketing, but could be just town. I don't feel any special mafia ping here.

regarding the second part with the bolded line, I'd lean more towards coming from someone that saw last games mech talk and didn't want to dip in into that, since it kinda drowned other aspects of the game (well not as dramatically as 'drowning', but it made the game a bit ... onesided? stale? uninteresting? at least for some). I would say, it's less alignment indicative and more character indicative of someone not wanting to push the game into that same direction OR someone not (wanting being seen as) liking mechs (or a quarrel about why we discuss mech). Well ok, the last part might be a bit what mafia might do, but I'm not sure if that isn't just a trait of heart. I do feel heart tends to prefer harmony and dislikes big confrontations.

@frogster I'm curious though, have you considered that this might've been a maf/maf conversation? Would you say it's possible both are mafia? Or would you say that at least one of them has to be town?

this is now the 7th occasion on this page youve had an opportunity to explain why lfischl is town and youve failed to produce a single coherent statement in support of that

instead youve attacked me ad hominem and implied I cant remember my own reasoning - you never asked if I had any nuanced or updated reasoning

I think Jamiet was just referring to the pregnancy in the same way I was earlier in the game. If your wife had just given birth (which I thought to be the case), then it's reasonable to assume you would be distracted and not able to contribute substantially.

Of course, my characterization was "brainbomb's busy", whereas Jamie's is "brainbomb is scattered and confused", but I think in the end the sentiment comes from the same place.

Either way, Jamiet is clearly trying to defuse the situation right now, even if asking you to calm down is likely to provoke the opposite reaction.
