Re: Mafia 85: Return from Lockdown
That's a lot of forum mafia games, I doubt I've played more than 100 total forum mafia games. Most of the games I've played were over live chat. Those ~6 occurrences I saw players start that way were all solid players when/if they paid attention who rolled town and didn't really care about the game in that moment they spammed some posts out. That's what chaqa looks like to me so far. If it starts to seem like he's lying low then I'll reevaluate.brainbomb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:11 amhalf a dozen times is 6 occurances. ive played in hundreds of mafia games maybe even more than a thousand across many forums. chaqas posts are shit and total filler. hes better than that and even when he is town he admits he doesnt careFrogsterking wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:05 amYou misread at least some of my posts, most importantly though the part where you got my alignment wrong.
I've seen that opener like half a dozen times before and it always draws early suspicion and the slot has always flipped town once it gets run up. Maybe this is the game that a scum slot decided to "chaqa it up" but I'm not going to bet on it.brainbomb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 5:56 am
sure. those are explanations I can see as
possibilities. but at this juncture those are avenues not confirmed truth. Chaqa is often pretty unashamed of his play as town. he doesnt care about day 1 so what I see in his posts is that he did care enough to keep posting - for some reason
thought?
Makes sense to me.
Huh?JustAGuyNamedWill wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:18 amAt this point everyone is null to me, except for neph. I very slightly scumread neph, because they got immediately into the mechs, which feels to me like scum thinking of a strategy beforehand and then implementing it too fast.
I could just as easily be wrong but who knows. Only neph.
Also @Frogster if you weren’t from a completely separate community I would say suspicion for another player this early is not a good look, but I digress.

Re: Mafia 85: Return from Lockdown
I think the joke Chaqa made doesn't work if he does it in one post, hence 4 posts (not that it was good anyway). It's obviously filler, but I don't see the fact that it's more posts meaning it's necessarily scum filler.brainbomb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 5:56 amsure. those are explanations I can see asBobMcBob wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 5:53 amOkay, now I've embarassed myself even more with that crosspost lol. Chaqa's entrance did feel a little weird, but I had put that down to poor execution rather than scumminess.brainbomb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 5:47 amchaqa just felt like trying to hit a post quota and act oblivious
which when he is town he is usually pretty shameless
and will flat out tell you he hasnt read, plans not to read, doesnt care about day 1 or something to that effect.
and his posts seem strangely filler and formulaic without the shamelessness of his usual meta
and lfischl seems like someone who barely plays, rarely posts, and often coasts or just lurks. he is trying and is actually forcing some things out and it seems rushed and almost like he is just doing this to benefit his scum rand as opposed to actually solving
Fisch I thought felt the need to respond to direct questions from frogster, which feels like something he would do. He hasn't pinged me as scum!fisch with his responses, and he definitely does lurk as scum.

Re: Mafia 85: Return from Lockdown
I could easily see Chaqa posting that as either alignment, it doesn't necessarily read as scum post-count ballooning to me.brainbomb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:48 amSo you see it as town filler?BobMcBob wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:43 amI think the joke Chaqa made doesn't work if he does it in one post, hence 4 posts (not that it was good anyway). Re: Mafia 85: Return from Lockdown
this game is unique in that the town PR who are important dont know that they are even important, which is why I would be more sus of someone like Jamie here, or someone like Chaqa here who knows their role, and if it is town they know there really is a slim chance they are someone important. I dont think either of them played normally with that possibility in mind. I think they have both played as if they need to "do" some posts to look active as opposed to really getting invested.
And really why in gods name would any of us get a normal role PM, and do anything other than get curious? invested? compelled?
Is that a fair criticism? I dont know that Jamie entry and vote come from a place of curiousity about who could be scum. I dont know that town chaqa takes this route where he has no idea what his role is, whereas scum chaqa maybe sees this as a chance to attempt a joke and messes it up.
or scum jamie just latches onto something because its easy

Re: Mafia 85: Return from Lockdown
think about this logically, if youre town acting weird, scum is just going to be like
"cool theres a town who has no idea what their powers are who is acting weird as shit and is just elim-bait"
"nice"
it accomplishes absolutely nothing, and just puts the gimmick out in a situation where mafia knows that any gimmick to bait kills is purely just ego and bravado

Re: Mafia 85: Return from Lockdown
Yes, its to be used when people start dyingbrainbomb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:07 amthe topic about neph being town for his mech talk was interesting
and heart saying the only possibilities neph covered was town scenarios
all of that was just very high drama
anything useful neph said got washed away in the drama of if it was scum indicative and im just wondering if it was even helpful in anything
the natural process of people dying is going to help people
learn their powers and speculating on them is pointless. there is no strategy we can even do to learn anything other than just hoping we kill some
of our own shitty roles or mafia does it for us by accident.
so neph efforts are questionable or pointless. however I think neph desired to
learn something from it. and wanted to get people thinking. and maybe there is something good inherently in that
I.e
Tonight I return "Delivered"
You then die and flip as PDB
I then know I'm the door darter
Who knows if it will be useful but its helpful to have imo

I feel like these guys couldn't be scum together, this is waaay to blatant if Ifishl flips scumJustAGuyNamedWill wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 5:55 amOver the last 3 games, I’ve noticed that usually people who are scummy right out of the gate tend to just be unlucky and also victims of mafia manipulation. I don’t feel that lfishl should be suspicious just because of that.
