But it's exactly that he has nothing to lose that would make this article lose its clout. It would have to be someone high up enough to make the NYT sure they wanted to go along with publishing this Op-Ed anonymously, and that it would ultimately have major impact when we ultimately find out the real source when Trump is on his last legs.

I see Kelly as someone who snuck in when Reince Priebus ran from the fire, and hasn't actually been the Trump enabler that he appears to be in public, while also being able to inspire others to want to join the "resistance from within".

The denials have already started from senior staff that they wrote it with calls for lie detector testing. Not that either are reliable.

I would think at least some members of this resistance would be among the first to deny writing the Op-Ed, including the person who wrote it.

Trump wants a criminal investigation into criticism of him. I'm waiting for the executive order to retroactively make Trump opposition a crime. Then no matter what happens in the November election he can jail the Democrats in Congress and all his Republican enemies he will no longer needs.

A friend of mine pointed out that Pence's response was that the Op-ed didn't come from the office of the VP. Which doesn't mean it didn't come from him just that he and his staff didn't produce it in any official capacity.

Pence is the only safe official since he was elected and can only be removed by impeachment. Everyone else can get fired.

Time will tell. Pence wouldn't write it because his entire political future depends on being Trump's ally through and through until Trump is gone.
