A lot of these facts, if you don't WIFOM them, align with worcej being the last Mafia (in hindsight).Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 12:21 amLet's just put some things down, for the record:
1. ND's strongest "townread" was Damo.
2. ND's main "suspects" were Sweetandcool, and Bozo.
3. ND pushed a wagon on Hamilton Brian pretty hard.
4. Bozo and Hamilton, with me, voted ND for a good time before EoD.
5. With 12 minutes to go, Brainbomb declared that he town-read ND. However, with 1 minute to go, he voted ND.
6. Worcej very slightly defended ND's "posting style" and had ND as a townread.

Sounds pretty fun, and happy belated. I don't think I offered anything when you did mention it was your birthday.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 6:06 pm
Not only was it a surprise trip, but it was a surprise birthday party. My wife took me North, which after a while caused me to realize we were headed to my family.

Does that read better for you?

Re: M1026: ghughog Day [Game Thread]
Deep Dive on Sweet:
We start off with this line “manages to aggravate a few of you into believing I'm team Mafia.” Not sure why they feel compelled to offer this statement. I think they did this the last game I played with them. Is it trying to be convincing?
2nd post fingers me for my retort about reads list in my reply to Brain. Asks, rhetorically I imagine, if it is suspicious. Does town do this? Sure. Natural to wonder about things, but it can be mafia-induced. I’d say I’d give it a pass for now; it’s a nothing statement.
3rd post is the first interaction between ND and sweet. Wherein sweet apologizes for mentioning the vacation.
Vote brainbomb, they seem off. (go back and look to see if this were gaining any traction with anyone else.)
Another reply to a post by ND: “Right now Ham actually seems most suspicious to me. Not sure what to make of ND.” So there continues to press their party line that HB is not good and an uncertainty about ND. They didn’t express why I seem most suspicious. What if this is a contrived statement? Mafia could make a statement like that to hedge and somewhat distance.
Then a reply to bozo that I don’t really understand or want to take time to.
Back to a vote on me. Is this an lazy mafia sweet ploy? Pick on HB who sucked as mafia before; they’ve got to be mafia again. Vote them.
Is the mafia pre-game chat question really a townslip as sweet declared, or simply a half-hearted attempt at gaining some towniness?
Then the OMGUS vote on brainbomb. I don’t have the record in front of me but my gut says mafia is more concerned with a calculated vote and wouldn’t resort to OMGUS. Unless, of course, it’s part of a calculated vote.
“I play this game for fun. Your attitude is starting to cross the line. Dial it back please.” Is this a genuine sentiment or mafia theatre?
Yet in a follow-up post, sweet made sure to announce that they felt better about ND (as in they weren’t mafia…which we know to be false).
And the end of D1. Soft read at this point is probably town but definitely room to be mafia. Looking at the interactions with ND as well as N1 comments should be helpful. That they didn't vote ND in D1 is probably something to hold on to as we move ahead.

Thanks! But in a game of deception, you can't discount the possibility that I've been lying about my Birthday, the trip, the family, everything. This could all just be a cruel ploy to justify my townslips.Hamilton Brian wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 6:41 pmSounds pretty fun, and happy belated. Re: M1026: ghughog Day [Game Thread]
By PoE I conclude that worcej is the remaining Mafia. If they are not, I literally cannot choose between Ham and Jam.
Jamiet has played a really good game as either alignment.
I will still dive into worcej, just in case I conclude they are town, but I'm feeling comfortable with that vote.

Re: M1026: ghughog Day [Game Thread]
Worcej's D1 is definitely the worst of the three.
He seemed focused on Ham, sweetandcool, and ND.
He shaded Ham but pivoted to sweetandcool with the claim that Ham is just too obviously bad to actually be Mafia. That leaves him room to easily pivot back to Ham later in the day and/or later in the game. Doesn't actually justify why sweetandcool, but does make me the lead wagon.
The ND friendliness is a data point I'll ignore. It makes him look too obviously Mafia, so obvious that it can't be true. So a WIFOM. And if worcej actually is town, this is just an innocent mistake, which we all make from time to time (supporting someone who is Mafia).

One last interesting data point: if worcej were Mafia, why didn't he try to save ND by voting Ham when it became clear sweetandcool wagon wasn't happening?
My guess is that he just wasn't available, just like ND wasn't.

There is a lot of worcej stuff to unpack. I think worcej has done a very good job defending himself.
But his defense and back and forth with Bozo et al. IS a bunch of noise, just as he has said himself.
I think PoE and his performance D1 are enough to indict him.
And he STILL hasn't had the balls to end hammer himself despite threatening to do it multiple times. I think town Worceh would be a lot more likely to follow through, or at least would stick to his guns a lot more than he has.

Re: M1026: ghughog Day [Game Thread]
Deep Dive on Jamie D1:
Pretty innocuous start. Declares a happiness to be playing and singles out brain and ND. Now I am channeling my inner-sweetandcool and focusing on this message: “The big difference is, I do *not* want your vote.” The paranoid in me say, “Holy shit, he’s saying the quiet part out loud and asking not to be bussed.” That’s crazy, right?
Mentions the correlation between ND’s rudeness with them resurrecting their old meta. (At the immediate time, not really anything that would stand out, right, other than it is accompanied with the first real vote of the game…for ND).
I need to go back and read bozo’s plan that jamie objects to but they identify two points, which really just seems to be one point written two different ways. ?
Interesting interaction with ND:
“There were three other people on the Hamilton Brian wagon when you said this.
Your use of "a few" seems to be a statement that you suspect more than one of them, but not all three.
Which of sweetandcool, damo666, and bozotheclown do you not suspect?
Why do you suspect the other two?”
So…given that ND is mafia, I am weirded out with interactions they’ve had with anyone. This post is really bugging me. Is it Jamie asking for a clear response or is it something else? I am going to come back to this once I am done the D1 report.
Jamie last posts with 2.5 hours to go in the day. Plants one vote, and it’s on ND. Jamie is an admitted busser, but Jamie is perceptive and creative as mafia. Calculating. Would they be so confident as mafia to do that and not come back? Furthermore, the movement was pretty slow and we were looking at ties of 2 votes each.
Soft read is that jamie had a pretty unremarkable D1. Dropped the vote then left with a lot of time to spare. A confident mafia would feel okay doing that. Right now, if this were a 2-1 situation, I’d pick jamie for the kill rather than sweet.

I think ending is fine if there's incontrovertible evidence that the kill goes our way. I am not that confident in this case...right now. I also generally line up as very conservative/cautious when it comes to ending. It can be a pro-mafia ploy to stifle communication/solving. Which maybe if you are mafia, you pushing it might make sense?

It was a satisfying way to conclude my work, considering worcej keeps threatening to self hammer.Hamilton Brian wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 8:41 pmI think ending is fine if there's incontrovertible evidence that the kill goes our way. It takes at least two towns to hammer the day, so it's a bit silly to suspect me for it
It's certainly not harming anyone.

I am confident though. Take my end as a sign that I am confident and do not intend to change my vote, even for self defense (since a self defense vote would be a guaranteed vote for town).

Is this a result of you just weighing worcej and jamie? And jamie weighs more town than mafia whereas worcej weighs more mafia than town?
