Re: M82: Magic the Gathering Mafia [Game Thread]
d1 vca
major wagon is defined as 3 or more votes at a time, pared down by the ones I don't care about and don't fit my narrative
the first wagon is kak. kak is a funny man. me, sweet, and vecna form a major wagon on our good friend kak by t-31:39, so like, early. i think it was a meme wagon, but for me at least, it solidified into an actual read later on. at this point in time half of all votes are on kak, and no one else is above 1 vote
the next major wagon, briefly, is damo. the votes are mr fox, hamilton barca, and kakaroono. mr fox has no stated explanation and immediately leaves for sweet. kak wants to tie the vote. funny! mr barca doesn't say why he's voting so L for him
sweet becomes a major wagon. what a nerd lmao. this is largely driven by bongo's attempted hammer. rdr goes along with this for some reason, which seems out of character to me but really what do i know. fox jumps here to see 'if bunny and rd are bussing sweet' which seems awfully specific and not really much. in any case fox didn't vote damo again and was publicly saying he was going to vote kak at eod so interesting that something changed there. @fox why were you fine voting damo at the beginning but not end of the day?
ghug hops on damo and doesn't move until his tie avoidance vote so damo is back to a major wagon. this is T-0:45 out from EOD. after his vote, the wagons are kak 3, damo 3, sweet 2, ghug 2.
the ghug wagon didn't matter and never gained votes after this period. based on thread momentum as i remember it, sweet never really had the thread momentum to be the one to die. damo and kak were the wagons with the most people on them, if not a super big vote difference
damo and kak both consolidated around 4 votes. they tied twice in the last 10 minutes at that total. kak self voted to put himself up 5-3 at 5 minutes left but went back, so really the vote didn't shift for almost 7 minutes in the last 10 minutes (t-0:09 to t-0:02). the vote is still tied 4-4 at this point. fox and sweet both get off their vanity wagons and put it up to 5-5 within seconds of each other.
at this point, wagons are
kak: me, damo, fox, vecna, worcej
damo: ghug, hamilton barca, kak, rdr, sweet
sweet: bunnygo
me and ghug both switch to avoid ties, which puts damo up.
conclusions
i think kak's self-vote, which shitty townplay, is towny. i don't think scum would try to die d1 like that.
fox was one of the original damo voters but wouldn't consider voting for him at eod. why that is is not immediately clear to me.
more data is needed
more active town at eod were on damo, which is interesting. unsure what that means

Yall gotta make sure you check timestamps before jumping to BS conclusions. Don't start pinning the loss of Damo on me, and I am pretty sure that I wasn't monkeying around to make a tie vote.ghug wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 11:49 pmHe could have done something himself instead of waiting until after the deadline to chastise, though. Re: M82: Magic the Gathering Mafia [Game Thread]
Did a little VCA, still need to do more but initial thoughts are in.
Assumptions:
1. sweetandcool is town.
2. A bus is generally unlikely (but possible, yes).
Thoughts:
A place to start is at damo's last vote with 2:13 remaining (r). It put the wagons at:
3 Kak
2 dam, 2 swe, 2 ghu
1 Fox, 1 wor
At this point I believe only Kak and sweetandcool had come under real verbal pressure, with damo and ghug receiving light verbal pressure.
The next two votes are from ghug, first moving from worcej to Fox (1:14) and then to damo (00:45).
This reads as ghug trying to see if anyone bites on a Fox wagon, and then after no response switching to a more viable target. If this were scum ghug, this reads as ghug trying to help scum buddy Kak, or trying to frame the EoD as T v T with Kak and damo thereby relieving pressure off themself. Or, if ghug felt under no real pressure (remember, Kak and sweet were probably the top candidates), then it was just a matter of creating a third viable town wagon.
The lead wagons are now Kak and damo at 3 votes.
Next Fox votes from damo to sweetandcool (00:42). This could be scum Fox working with ghug to spread filth around and make it T v T v T ( Kak, sweet, damo). This type of Mafia vote shift seems common, where one Mafia moves from a wagon only to be replaced by a teammate.
Now the lead wagons are Kak and sweet at 3.
Next Kak votes from Fox to damo (00:34). This interesting because if they were voting purely in defense they would have voted sweetandcool. Instead they made a 3-way tie of Kak, damo, and sweet. Either they were confident their teammates would bail them out or they are town
At (00:31 and 00:26) both worcej and Bona hop off ghug and onto Kak. If Kak is Mafia then Bona is definitely not a teammate and worcej not likely. The question is, was Bona being opportunistic, or was Bona testing to see if anyone would attempt to save Kak, who seemed dead in the water?
5 Kak
3 dam, 3 swe
If it was a test, then sweetandcool failed it at (00:22) by switching from Kak to Fox. Luckily, I know that at that moment I was convinced we needed to vote Fox, but from an outside perspective it looks like a clever Mafia move, switching to an unviable wagon, giving flexibility on a last second vote to a wagon of my choice. This pairs me with Kak. And Kak's earlier vote actually reinforces that notion.
Next rdr comments on a statement I made about possibly voting damo and swaps from sweet to damo (00:09). This could read as rdr saving scum Kak, and they felt like my point was something players could get on board with.
(00:07-00:02) Kak first gets excited by sweetandcool's attempted flashwagon on Fox and joins, then Kak throws an NAI pity party, then goes back to what can now definitively be considered the self defense vote on damo.
At (00:02) the vote was:
5 kak* (kak self voting)
3 dam
2 swe
Simultaneously, Kak swapped back to damo, Fox moved from sweet to Kak, precisely because they didn't want Kak to potentially wriggle their way out by swapping to damo, and sweet moved from Fox to damo with the exact same intent as Fox except I wanted damo out and expected to see Kak shift back to damo.
The vote was now tied at 5 Kak, 5 damo.
The last two votes are bona going from Kak to damo and ghug going from damo to sweet. We'll consider ghug's irl situation to make this NAI. One might be tempted to conclude that this could be scum bona saving Kak, but remember Bona cast a critical vote that put Kak in unnecessary danger at (00:26).
Conclusions:
1. Kak and sweet seem paired. Since I know I am town, and it didn't seem like anyone else made an especial effort to save Kak (other than rdr), it seems likely Mafia was content with Kak being the victim.
2. In the off chance Kak actually IS Mafia, then rdr is extremely likely to be their teammate.
3. ghug and Fox could be scum coordinating.
Assumptions:
1. sweetandcool is town.
2. A bus is generally unlikely (but possible, yes).

I love me a good VCA, sweet. I haven't sat to digest all of what you wrote, but I dig the spirit.
On another note, ZOmbie Survival sucks lobster balls. Have played it probably 3 to 5 times over the past 13 years. I don't know why we keep it around.

Your comment came shortly after the deadline (who needs to check timestamps?) and didn't come with a vote, so either you thought it was before the deadline and chose not to try to tiebreak, or you waited until the result was decided by others and came in to criticize.Hamilton Brian wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 3:52 amYall gotta make sure you check timestamps before jumping to BS conclusions. I imagine it was the former but they're pretty similar from a motivation standpoint.
