TLDR they’re charging for third party API access, which isn’t in itself a problem, but they’re basically setting the pricing super high above industry standards to kill off third party apps, which are way better than their awful app, all in the hopes of an IPO.

Also the CEO is a trash person and used to moderate the jailbait subreddit and edit users posts among other things

Basically, plus they have a lot of other features and mod tools that people use. The official app is seriously trash, which is a shame because Reddit bought out the old Alien Blue app that was really good in order to build it.

One other thing not as talked about with the reddit shit is the fact there are some privacy changes involving adult content. The two major points of which is only the reddit site and app will be able to access it, but more alarmingly there will be a way to block your activity in those spaces even from mods, which is used by more than a few subs to stop bad actors in spaces aimed at younger people.

I don't have any great revelations. I'm still pissed at myself about not realizing the hammer was going to be that close.
