YEAH!

Ok that was a great D1 outcome:

- One Mafia is dead.
- Kak is towncleared.
- Brainbomb is caught scum.
Yes.
Yes.

Good shit guys! I have like 30 minutes then I have to run to commentate a race for a couple hours.

So I am going to only cast one real vote a day. Don't ask me why. I have to do something to be weird and it's not trying to piss everyone off this game lol
This should be suspicious but locktown.

Other takeaways:

- We are not clearing the entire core of that wagon, because usually when we catch scum D1, scum were involved.
- Cold feet on a Chaqa bus feels like the most likely reason for that move to Vecna to me.
- Vecna looks very good regardless.
- aaro voted for me the first time HB took the lead, which feels bad.
- Jamie's argument on brain is fair, but the fact that he a) made it before the flip and b) tried to use it to kill brain first feels much more suspect to me than brain's behavior.
Maybe. I'm not gonna be killing people who were on HB with like 3 minutes left though. I'm gonna treat them like clears for a few days at least.
That's generally ok. I feel pretty good about Rd and sweet, and if people want to give Chaqa a day or two, fine, though that late vote really reminds me of Hamilton's attempt to save his partner (me) in the game brain was citing earlier, so I still feel like voting there.

A Chaqa/Jamie solve feels too easy right now but I'm definitely teetering on the edge of the tunnel.
I also think it's Jamie so I'm down to chase that lead.

@brain: this is two games now I've taken one of your cases to lead a scum wagon.

We need to harness this some more.

A few hours ago, I went back through old games to find one where brain was scum. It took a while and on the way, I saw an awful lot of games where brain was final town and won. Idk any of the context but his winrate was much higher than the AL central’s

I've been finding if Brain makes a case and I agree with it, it's probably a good case.

I remember in champs last year round two I made the case on neopest and fought for the case all day. people saying I was nuts; she was so town. and by end of day she ends up flipping and I had moved her to town out of paranoia and then I ended up also end hammering her and I still didnt get miskilled but I was widely considered scummy and abrasive. It ended up being the only scum town caught.

I will attempt to deliver yet another scum tonight. via a case.

a simple comparison of how Hamilton treated his scum buddies in the mafia game with me could probably give a few clues about how hamilton makes reads lists as mafia.

In the prime example he didnt bus at all in his reads.

He loaded up mafia buddies in his nulls and only put Jamie in that game as town as a lump townread with eden

That was the impression I got from your sample. I find that strategy relatable. Yes, I think his least committal/most null reads are most likely to be Mafia.

We can then take whoever those players are and examine their interactions with Hamilton-Brian and additionally each other.

#1231 Post by brainbomb » Thu Jun 22, 2023 1:11 am

President Eden and Jamie: both fervent, big writing with explicit details, hammering for information. Emotion.

Aaro: questioning, exploring the conflict between others’ reads and their own feelings (see ghug). Post on page 128 is well thought-out. Really could see them up to tier 1.

Worcej: I think I was town-reading Durga; no, I definitely was. Her bailing out isn’t scum-indicative. She cut ties with our Webdip World team. However, Worcej gets the benefit of the doubt to at least get through another day or two. Sorry to hear about the Covid. That sucks. Rest up, heal up.

RDR: self-admittedly never a big “pusher” and that’s true here. I feel like RDR’s game really is to watch, draw their own conclusions, then press forward in that manner. Same is happening here. Challenging assumptions. Not a scum vibe from them and if I’m wrong, then I really have no business in this game. Jamie's suggestion in the post about HR voting has me second-guessing myself. Worth digging into.

Bona: need to dig more into the hate they are getting. Close to me in terms of post volume, so that isn’t scum indicative. Not getting depth in the posts though, so somewhat forgettable. This position might be changing.

Bozo: drives me crazy; pulled the coloured font business. Usually comes in with a big analytical reason for a decision, or to refute town’s decisions. Not seeing it thus far, but I think they’re a mid-game person. So, still waiting.

Celaph: questioning, commenting, good post on page 123. But…

Damo: feels different this game, can’t put my finger on it. Strong conviction (?) that D1 subs are scum.

Flum: nothing. Not a lot of digging from what I can read.

EMC: nothing. Daddy posts. Seems disinterested.
  • Ghug: Not sure what I am reading from them. Need to go back to some D2 posts that caught my eye, but right now, very null.
HR: Their D2 seems unremarkable, but I am interested in their Bona take. After some questioning, might shift HR up to 2 or down to 4.

Donny: standout is the D1 VCA moving to Maniac like they did. Getting a lot of asking for others’ reads instead of doing the work themselves. Not really putting themselves out there, which could be scum or PR play.

Chaqa: they should probably be in tier 3 but what stands out to me is naming players as scum without offering an explanation, not asking them questions. Opportunistic. Wondering why they remained on a vanity wagon. That looks suspicious.

Bunny: heavy-hitting day 1 with confrontational posts then disappearing into life. I get it. But the immediate shift in tone seems off to me; are they thinking, “I keep pushing like this I’m going to draw suspicion? Disappear then tone it down, rabbit.” We’ll see how the remainder of D2 goes.

Vecna: Bunny Go is locked in my basement. Usually strong and thoughtful play. This isn’t it.
He left scum bb (me) out of his reads list in that game also.
Now compare to this game:

So, these are gut reads in the order of post volume.

Brain: agitating, erratic, but then some subtle notes contained within like the idea of aaro and S&C NOT being scum together. I think a decent observation about how mafia would sit back while the rest of us deliberate the pros cons of mech. Essentially throwing nets out to see what's caught. Townlean.

Ghug: many posts and engaging with a few players, but nothing that jumps out to me that screams town. My heart always wants to townlean ghug but this is a very ambivalent feel right now.

Sweet and Cool: heavily invested in the mechs. I think history suggests, sometimes, mafia when that is the case. Offers feels but without much substance. Push push push.

Aaro: lots of early energy on the mechs; hits out at brainbomb for the "boredome" and poking of players. Am I interpreting some defensiveness about their thinking on the mechs? I don't think mafia would "play" this badly and overtly, but it's not a townlean.

Worcej: again, getting embroiled in the mech stuff and then kind of drifts off. I think worcej is at their strongest when they elaborate and/or press other players. I thought I saw it last night but in a reread I am less secure in it. I'd townlean worcej based on pro-claiming but it'd be stronger when I see the confident play. I'll townlean for now.

Jamie: Had a time with Jasmine which interrupted mafia attention. I am still smarting from the inattention. I like what they've done after getting in here today, but there's a lower energy that what I feel like I am used to seeing. Many interactions with brain, ghug, and ezio. Not sure it's bringing light to anything. I'd call them a null read at this point.

Ezio: I think this is my second game with Ezio so there's not a lot to go on. Pro-claiming so some towncred in that regard. Interactions seem amiable. Another null as nothing really jumps out at me.

Chaqa: the mememaster, which is hurting my head. I wouldn't mafialean them because mafia wouldn't be so overt (or would they be). It's like he's asking to be eliminated. That doesn't make sense though given the strength of their play. Townlean just on account of mafia not being that bad?

Kak: They started out well yesterday, taIled off. Bulk of their content was mech. Then comes the disappearing act. Hell, Vienna is beautiful this time of year. Null to mafialean.

Rivera: short on posts, which is de rigeur for rdr. As I read their posts I feel like there's a hesitancy and forced engagement. null to mafialean.

Vecna: Was Vecna the parrot many games ago? I will say I mafialean Vecna here and pay attention to the shading of brain and jamie.

Damo: still hungover? Maybe drop a vote on Damo to put them out of their misery.

Nobody wants to be here and nobody wants to leave.
Nulls: Jamie - Ezio - rdrivera - aaro - ghug
Townreads: me - chaqa - worcej
???- Damo
Scumlean - vecna

Hamilton-Brian (HB) was definitely pushing for a sweetandcool MK. And generally approved of Brainbomb's positions. Was this because Brainbomb was on the wrong track, or HB believes in the tired trope that nobody listens to Brainbomb? I'll have to cross reference post timing later to see what Brainbomb was currently saying.

Going purely off of these reads, I think the best suspects to start with are Jamie, ghug and DemonRHK. Rdr and Ezio too. I think HB doesn't make that comment about scum-Damo, just because it could be interpreted as too negative.

HB seemed invested in an anti-claim=scum narrative, and while he penalized me worse than Aaro, I think Aaro still doesn't fall into the pattern we are looking at.
