Re: M81: A Night To Remember [GAME THREAD]
historically I think Jamie almost always posts at start of game. and he also did post near start of game in this game as well, asking if it was okay to post.
@DemonRHK who in your mind was being unfair to Jamie when you wrote that post?

Well I can assure you that you've misread the tone.DemonRHK wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 3:11 pmsweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 3:03 pmWhat a bizarre reaction. I've hardly won a battle with Brainbomb, so I'm not really in such a position.Every one of those phases reads as 'high and mighty' to me. Like 'looking down over the nose' stylesweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 2:56 pmI'm glad you are admitting this. I feel like between this and your earlier test claiming your partner was Mafia, you've had good ideas but have been way too obvious about them. Your Town lost was too lazy, and gave too many free passes. Ghug and I both saw through it (I hated the list, additionally because of its beginnings, and ghug commented by asking if it was deliberately provocative). Consequently, nobody cared, or at least in my case you were scumread for it.

Brain, bruh, IT WAS YOU.

I get the vibes that ghug doesn’t like worcej.
Has Jamie posted since their initial post asking if we can post? I assume he felt intimidated by all the math (or more likely it was just his bed time).

I am thankful someone asked and that information was revealed and am annoyed that I didn't know about it in the first place.
I will have to reassess the current dynamics and see how much that changes my reads.

Since it was out of the blue, my comment certainly could have been scum theater. I worry that their response was a way to look town while making me look bad for a post that would more likely be viewed as scum theater than genuine.

Hamilton Brian wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 3:05 pmBrainbomb is doing the king's work with the pushing. I think that's a feather in their cap at this point. +town
Worcej is going back and forth with the anti-claimants. It's coming off as fenuine and I also lump them in with town thus far. +town
ghug, rivera have put their thoughts in but I haven't got a gut sense of their work thus far.
jamie (uncharacteristically, until this morning) has been lowkey but picking up. Damo, ezio, vecna samesies.
Chaqa with the image posts...ugh. That's probably infuriatingly town? Or does chaqa want to get miskilled early?
Hamilton Brian wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 12:28 amWhere I am sitting right now, and like brain said earlier, hate a read of mine, wait five minutes.
So, these are gut reads in the order of post volume.
Brain: agitating, erratic, but then some subtle notes contained within like the idea of aaro and S&C NOT being scum together. I think a decent observation about how mafia would sit back while the rest of us deliberate the pros cons of mech. Essentially throwing nets out to see what's caught. Townlean.
Ghug: many posts and engaging with a few players, but nothing that jumps out to me that screams town. My heart always wants to townlean ghug but this is a very ambivalent feel right now.
Sweet and Cool: heavily invested in the mechs. I think history suggests, sometimes, mafia when that is the case. Offers feels but without much substance. Push push push.
Aaro: lots of early energy on the mechs; hits out at brainbomb for the "boredome" and poking of players. Am I interpreting some defensiveness about their thinking on the mechs? I don't think mafia would "play" this badly and overtly, but it's not a townlean.
Worcej: again, getting embroiled in the mech stuff and then kind of drifts off. I think worcej is at their strongest when they elaborate and/or press other players. I thought I saw it last night but in a reread I am less secure in it. I'd townlean worcej based on pro-claiming but it'd be stronger when I see the confident play. I'll townlean for now.
Jamie: Had a time with Jasmine which interrupted mafia attention. I am still smarting from the inattention. I like what they've done after getting in here today, but there's a lower energy that what I feel like I am used to seeing. Many interactions with brain, ghug, and ezio. Not sure it's bringing light to anything. I'd call them a null read at this point.
Ezio: I think this is my second game with Ezio so there's not a lot to go on. Pro-claiming so some towncred in that regard. Interactions seem amiable. Another null as nothing really jumps out at me.
Chaqa: the mememaster, which is hurting my head. I wouldn't mafialean them because mafia wouldn't be so overt (or would they be). It's like he's asking to be eliminated. That doesn't make sense though given the strength of their play. Townlean just on account of mafia not being that bad?
Kak: They started out well yesterday, taIled off. Bulk of their content was mech. Then comes the disappearing act. Hell, Vienna is beautiful this time of year. Null to mafialean.
Rivera: short on posts, which is de rigeur for rdr. As I read their posts I feel like there's a hesitancy and forced engagement. null to mafialean.
Vecna: Was Vecna the parrot many games ago? I will say I mafialean Vecna here and pay attention to the shading of brain and jamie.
Damo: still hungover? Maybe drop a vote on Damo to put them out of their misery.
Nobody wants to be here and nobody wants to leave.
I think the biggest oddity on here, and there are alot.
is:
jamie (uncharacteristically, until this morning) has been lowkey but picking up. Damo, ezio, vecna samesies.
To:
damo, ezio, and vecna were "picking up"Ezio: I think this is my second game with Ezio so there's not a lot to go on. Pro-claiming so some towncred in that regard. Interactions seem amiable. Another null as nothing really jumps out at me.
Damo: still hungover? Maybe drop a vote on Damo to put them out of their misery.
Vecna: Was Vecna the parrot many games ago? I will say I mafialean Vecna here and pay attention to the shading of brain and jamie.
and then later those same posts are characterized as Vecna (when he was favorably reading RHK) he was picking up, but when he started questioning or mocking brainbomb and jamie, Vecna was a mafialean for shading us.
Damo went from "picking up" to being worth dropping a vote on to put out of their misery.
and then Ezio gets towncred for being pro mass claim but only moves above a null anyway.
This looks really scummy

Tell us more about the stated goal of breaking up pairs.Chaqa wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 2:57 pmI think it's a small enough list to be reasonable but given the mechanics of this game I think it's probably more useful to be a little more flexible.
I've been thinking about it and I think our goal is just to break up pairs.
Although I don't want to vote worcej, because I put him through some really stressful stuff in the pregame chat and he came off pretty towny.

Read the post. I use it to track my place in the thread because otherwise I would forget and get overwhelmed.

It wasn't mentioned anywhere in the signup or setup post that mafia would have n0 chat.brainbomb wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 3:32 pmWhy did you think this was a townslip?Hamilton Brian wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 12:11 pmIs this a townslip?sweetandcool wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 3:01 amIt makes sense that Mafia got pregame chat for this setup, but I swear it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the setup. If I am understanding this correctly, you are claiming it's scummy because it is inconsistent? Inconsistency being suspicious because it makes the post more likely to have been artificially manufactured?brainbomb wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 3:44 pm

I agree that it is something, but I also know that it is all too easy to make inconsistent statements in an organic manner too. Sometimes it is difficult to put into words precisely how you feel.
