I dislike the idea of eden claiming pr to save themself and then forcing someone else to claim without retracting it first. And hardclaiming isnt the only way to claim like it feels like they are making it sound.

Would you like to explain why you made the claim in the first place? I'm inclined to believe neither you nor Brainbomb made real claims.

I think you of all people know that claims are taken very seriously. D1 is not so serious, but even then it's hard to just say that you were joking, especially when you made the claim EoD.
i thought bozo was scum and decided to engage in shenanigans i learned from bona and ghug to make people panic and vote my desired target

but i didnt wanna die myself so i picked the shittiest town role (seriously have you read this thing lmao it sucks) to claim and then forgot to retract before i fell asleep because i’m a gamer
Hah, yeah I remember thinking Quartermaster was crap and hoped I didn't roll it.

Still, I think it would negatively affect you regardless of time of retraction. I recall last game where you didn't follow a plan and were finally cut down for it. I suspect the same people take role-claims just as seriously.

I didn't take your claim seriously, and I could tell the voting + roleclaims were meant to cause confusion.

When you made your claim (and it was a hardclaim, why not just claim without saying that?), you were at 5 votes, Bozo at 4 votes, Dousing at 4 votes.

Dousing's votes were on the ascendant, and I think the general feel was Bozo was going to go. Nobody seemed to have a serious bone to pick with you, whereas several people seemed to be coming around to voting Bozo.

Given the nature of D1, I actually don't think you were in much danger, and your voting confusion would have been enough to 'save' you, if that was necessary.

Furthermore, you know the point of the game is not to stay alive, but to beat Mafia. So what were the consequences of your voting confusion and your fake claim?

1. You survived (though in my opinion you weren't in much danger).
2. You made people a little suspicious and annoyed at you for your confusion votes (although I've seen that before, and don't hold it against you).
3. You made yourself super suspicious by making an unnecessary fake claim.

Now, many people are going to want to flip you. Congrats, you survived D1 only to die D2 from sheer stupidity.

I will say that the claim/hardclaim distinction is silly because for a claim to be believed it needs to be "hard". But also Eden looks terrible here.

Really hope the new people just hang Eden tomorrow as he deserves it. And maybe he is even scum which will make it even better.

Analysis:

Foxcastle talked about BunnyGo's silent +1 gambit a lot.

To begin with, it aggravated him. He voted BunnyGo (I would go on to do the same a bit later).

As time went on, he softened his feelings and said he didn't want to vote for BunnyGo after all as he assumed Bunny would show up. He didn't actually move his vote for a long time, however.

Here's something interesting looking at the above posts, and factoring in the timing:

- On page 51, Foxcastle said "I don't want to vote BunnyGo anymore" (because he assumed Bunny would show up).
- On page 58, over 3 hours later, he asked BunnyGo "when are you going to reveal yourself" ? (At that time, there were just two votes on BunnyGo).
- On page 74, over 14 hours later, Foxcastle moved his vote to Bonatogether. (At that time, BunnyGo was tied for the lead with Bona, and Foxcastle vote put Bona into a 5-3 lead over Bunny).

This would be somewhat suspicious if BunnyGo was scum, perhaps. What do people think?

Foxcastle, Bunny, any comment?

*For a given value of "caused".
You talk about the timing, but kind of obfuscate that pages 51 and 58 were barely halfway through D1, i.e., Tuesday evening, i.e., still not a lot of substantive material to talk about, and not a lot of substantive material to base a vote on.

Other things that were happening at this time included Sweet and X whaling on each other about ontological epistemology, and Kak and Bona and Pyxxy having bouncing off each other about low-posting and activity levels.

So when you highlight that it was 3 hours later or 14 hours later, etc, I would counter your implication that there were better things to be talking about or voting on with the fact that there was not actually anything better to be doing. It was wandering around in the darkness, like D1 always is.

I voted Bunny early because his stunt irritated me (and my thoughts and feelings about that evolved), but you can go back and check that I'm not a hasty voter, and I also don't bounce my vote around all that much (compared to some people, anyway). Leaving my vote on Bunny was more a byproduct of indecision on where to move it to.

Alright?
Yeah that’s perfectly reasonable

But anyway, Jamie do you think there’s a chance mafia mass left the Eden wagon like I suggested in my long post? It seems it dropped super quickly and was completely incapable of picking up again…
People who left the Eden wagon in the last 2.5 hours of D1 (but before the last 28 mins), in order:

Ghug
BunnyGo
Bozo
Worcej

People who left the Eden wagon in the last 28 mins of D1, in order:

President Eden
Ghug
President Eden
Foxcastle
Ghug

In the last 2.5 hours of the game the majority of action involving the President Eden wagon was Ghug and President Eden repeatedly joining, leaving, re-joining, and leaving again.

I called this sketchy at the time and I'm calling it sketchy now.
You are leaving out that Eden claimed a PR.

Why 28 minutes?

At 00:28, President Eden voted for himself and put himself in the lead. I marked that timestamp as an apparent point at which shenanigans intensified.

This response doesn't feel right for two reasons:

First of all, you said "I don't want to vote for Bunny anymore" yet left your vote there for 14 hours, but you moved your vote off him when he was tied for the lead, just after you re-appeared for the first time in quite a long time, and caught up. Kinda like you logged back into the game, saw your Bunny was in danger, and finally decided to move.

Second of all your statement that "I'm not a hasty voter, and I also don't bounce my vote around all that much" doesn't align with the fact that at 03:39 you unvoted, and then remained on "unvote" for the following three hours before moving to Eden with 00:38 left on the timer.

So why didn't you unvote BunnyGo when you said you didn't want to vote for him anymore, yet you were happy to "unvote" for a significant period, later on?

Wow, was not expecting a sudden tide of anti-Eden posts. Mafia likes to ride the wave by supporting and creating popular opinion.

If we DK Eden, and he flips town, then look towards the following people:

Haze
ghug
rdrivera

And I suppose I will include:

sweetandcool
Jamiet

But we weren't part of the "wave" and consequently are a little less suspicious.

I am always in favor to hang people who fake claim. It could be a scum fake claiming or an egotistical asshole VT and in both cases it will be good for town.

Eh, I think townies are more likely to go first with the new information in situations like this regardless of Eden's role. It's easier to just give your unfiltered thoughts if you don't have an agenda or too much information.
